The document discusses the final preparations and appeals of mercy before Jesus returns. It says that now is the time to work saving souls who are lost and perishing, rather than among those already in the fold. It warns that the world is increasingly setting aside God's claims, and wickedness is filling up the measure of iniquity. When Sunday laws become universal, God will intervene and shake the earth mightily to punish sin and reveal His power. The signs of the times like wars, famines, and earthquakes show that Christ's return is near. The Spirit is being withdrawn from an unrepentant world, with plagues already falling.
The document discusses the importance of the sanctuary and its services as a central theme that unites Bible truths. It notes that every gospel truth centers on and radiates from the sanctuary, and that Satan tries to block our view of the sanctuary and divert attention away from its themes. Key subjects like the 2300 days prophecy, the commandments of God, and Christ's ministry in the heavenly sanctuary are said to be what messengers should dwell upon as they establish faith and certainty.

The letters warn of a growing Laodicean influence among Sabbatarian Adventists that will oppose the message of the Advent Review publishing committee.
The restoration of God's sanctuary and people is the central theme of end-time prophecies. For Jesus to restore His kingdom and become King, the sanctuary must first be cleansed through the restoration of God's people to a sinless condition. Only when God's people are purified and reflect the character of Christ will the sanctuary be cleansed and Jesus able to restore all things lost through sin. God's people must receive the seal of God by keeping His commandments and refusing the mark of the beast as the final test and preparation before the close of probation.
The document discusses the concept of "present truth" and how it is important for messengers to focus on key doctrines like the sanctuary and God's commandments rather than dwelling on other subjects. It warns that Satan will take advantage if messengers do not watch for his devices. Present truth, including the sanctuary message, establishes faith and gives certainty about the future.
The document discusses the purpose and symbolism of the sanctuary that God instructed the Israelites to build. It emphasizes that this cleansing involves not just the sanctuary itself but also God's people, and that Jesus can only restore the sanctuary once God's people are fully restored and cleansed from sin. The sanctuary and God's people are inseparably linked, and the cleansing of one requires the cleansing of the other.

Religious Freedom - Jamaica/ The Shaking - Trinidaddoublecheck
Two large programs were recently staged in Trinidad and one scheduled for Jamaica shortly. In light of the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy what does this mean for Seventh-day Adventists? How does it help us to know that the union of Church and State is picking up steam? And for the member of the SDA church - what does it mean to us and our being shaken or sealed?
Religious freedom- Jamaica /The shaking - TrinidadAntonio Bernard
This document discusses the importance of God's people remaining separate from false teachings and apostate churches, which are compared to "wells without water" and "clouds without water." It warns that some religious leaders and ministers may claim to believe the truth but have not fully converted, and thus lead people astray. The document summarizes Jesus' Sermon on the Mount from the book of Matthew in the Bible. It describes the nine blessings or characteristics that Jesus said belong to the kingdom of heaven. These include being poor in spirit, mourning, being meek, hungering for righteousness, showing mercy, having a pure heart, making peace, and being persecuted for righteousness. It explains that those who embody these characteristics, though scorned by the world, are of great value to God. True happiness comes from living according to God's principles rather than worldly definitions.
The document discusses how the church must adapt to sharing the gospel message online, just as Jesus adapted his message for humanity. It argues that as God created the physical world and finds it good, so too technology created by humanity has potential for good. As Jesus incarnated himself in human form to teach and guide people, so too the church must not shy away from engaging with people online to spread its message to both believers and non-believers in the digital world. The church is called to steward and interpret God's creation, so it cannot remain aloof from technology but must embrace and guide people in their use of it.
The document discusses biblical passages about eternal rewards for believers. It notes that believers will be rewarded according to their works and faithfulness to God. There will be different levels of reward in heaven based on how believers lived on earth, including crowns for overcoming trials and making disciples. The rewards will far outweigh any suffering endured for Christ and motivate Christians to serve wholeheartedly.
A263 blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, Son of David, shall never be forgiven...franktsao4
I will mention blasphemy against the Holy Spirit today, what is blasphemy, and why blasphemy against the Holy Spirit has such serious consequences, even more serious than blasphemy against Jesus Christ. I hope today’s discussion can clarify this concept and let us know why blasphemy against the Holy Spirit Not only will God not forgive you in this life, but He will not let you off in the new heaven and new earth.
This document contains a summary of Jesus' teachings on forgiveness, fasting, and storing up treasures in heaven rather than on earth from the Gospels of Matthew and Mark. It also includes additional context and commentary from other biblical passages. The key points are:
1) Jesus teaches that forgiveness is necessary to receive forgiveness from God and that true fasting involves humble prayer rather than outward displays of piety.
2) Fasting is presented as a spiritual discipline that should be accompanied by righteous living, not just physical deprivation.
3) True treasures are spiritual rewards stored in heaven, not earthly possessions that can be lost or stolen. Believers are called to focus on eternal rather than temporal things.
God calls Himself a jealous God to express His holiness and exclusive right to the worship and devotion of His people. He threatens punishment for those who hate Him and disobey His commandments, including physical death and eternal damnation. He threatens to punish descendants for the sins of their fathers to motivate fear of His anger and obedience to His commands. However, He promises blessings of His constant love and goodness to those who believe in Him and keep His commandments, both in this life and the next.
This document discusses the need for Adventism to continue the work of the Protestant Reformation by focusing on the central message of righteousness by faith. It states that Adventism was birthed out of the Reformation and has the opportunity to finish this work. However, the church is currently in a spiritually weak Laodicean state and God may choose to work through other humble workers if church members do not repent and if conferences do not support medical missionary and other evangelistic works. The work must continue to be carried forward through literature, humble workers from varied backgrounds, and decentralized management.
This document discusses the importance of worshipping God alone and not creating images of him. It references several Bible passages about not worshipping other gods or creating idols, including Exodus 20, 1 Samuel 5, and 1 Kings 8. It references several Bible passages about not worshipping other gods or creating idols, including the story of Dagon falling before the Ark of God. The document encourages focusing on God as revealed in his Word rather than limiting him to our own conceptions. It promotes studying the Ten Commandments and Heidelberg Catechism to better understand God's character and how to properly worship him.
This document discusses the importance of worshipping God alone and not creating images of him. It references several Bible passages about not worshipping other gods or creating idols, including Exodus 20, 1 Samuel 5, and 1 Kings 8. It argues that God cannot be limited to any image and that his nature cannot be captured by a single image, as shown by the story of the golden calf. The document encourages focusing on knowing God through his Word rather than the ideas of human thoughts and imaginations.
The document discusses two main decrees in end times prophecy:
1. The first decree issued by the United States that causes persecution of God's people.
2. The universal death decree issued after probation closes that gives authority to kill saints.
It argues that the universal death decree cannot be issued before probation closes, as God's restraining influence on governments remains until Jesus finishes His work as high priest. The Great Controversy and Spirit of Prophecy writings depict the death decree only occurring after Jesus leaves the sanctuary at the end of the investigative judgment.
The document discusses the parable of the ten virgins from Matthew 25:1-13. It provides commentary on the symbolism and meaning within the parable. Key points include:
- The ten virgins represent the experience of the end-time church. The wise virgins have oil while the foolish do not.
- The oil represents the Holy Spirit or heavenly grace. The lamps represent the Word of God.
- At the midnight cry, the foolish virgins are found unready as they lack the Holy Spirit and righteous character.
- Christ's coming in the parable represents the investigative judgment, where characters will be weighed in God's balances. The foolish will be
This document discusses the symbolism of the church being the bride of Christ. It asserts that in 1844, Christ entered the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary to be married to the New Jerusalem, which represents His union with the church. It states that Christ loves the church and gave Himself for it. The church is composed of true believers who are citizens of the New Jerusalem. When Christ returns, He will consummate His blessed union with His church. The sealing of God's people represents their marriage to Christ. The judgment prepares God's people to receive the seal and be part of Christ's eternal bride.
The document discusses the true nature of the shaking that was prophesied by Ellen White. It argues that the shaking is the work of the investigative judgment, where God separates the wheat from the tares. During this time, God's people experience an affliction of the soul where they plead for forgiveness and cleansing. Jesus then provides a special atonement or cleansing for His people, removing the record of their sins and clothing them in His perfect righteousness. This final atonement experienced during the judgment is what prepares God's people to receive the latter rain and give the loud cry.
The document discusses the attainment of ultimate character perfection in God's people prior to the Second Advent. It asserts that character development will continue even after being sealed, as revival and strengthening from the latter rain and trials during the time of trouble further perfect character. God's people will mature until Jesus' character is perfectly reproduced in them, at which time He will return. The latter rain prepares the righteous for translation at the Second Coming by ripening their characters like grain.
The document discusses the judgment of the living as a period of time during which God's people will be judged and sealed or rejected prior to the close of probation. It provides biblical references and quotes from Ellen White that describe the judgment of the living as an investigative process where names are accepted or rejected. The quotes portray it as a solemn event where the righteous will receive God's seal and be separated from the unrighteous.
1. The document discusses the order of events outlined in Acts 3:19 regarding repentance, the blotting out of sins in the investigative judgment, and the reception of the latter rain.
2. It provides commentary from the book The Great Controversy and writings of Ellen G. White to support the interpretation that sins must first be blotted out in the investigative judgment before the latter rain can be received.
3. Diagrams are presented showing the relationship between repentance, the investigative judgment, and the latter rain as the final events in earth's history unfold.
1. The document discusses the glorious state of the church during the latter rain, which follows a shaking or sifting of the church.
2. It describes how the faithful will sigh and cry over the sins in the church, and will be sealed as they afflict their souls.
3. After the shaking removes the unfaithful, the latter rain will revive God's people and the church will appear "fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners."
The document discusses the experience that will bring God's people the seal of God. It describes how God's people will recognize their own sinfulness and unworthiness during the investigative judgment. Jesus will take away their filthy garments and clothe them with his robe of righteousness. They will receive the seal of God and be eternally secure from the tempter's devices, protected by holy angels.
Dr. Kellogg argued that while some believed the loud cry had already begun, the works described in scripture that should precede the loud cry had not fully been carried out by Seventh-day Adventists. He believed that Adventists must do more in areas of health, charity, and helping the needy before the loud cry could make a significant impact. Others like A.T. Jones believed the loud cry had already begun through the revelation of Christ's righteousness. There was disagreement around whether Adventists were adequately fulfilling their missional responsibilities prior to the loud cry.
The document discusses the need for churches to fulfill their duty of helping those in need through acts of service and charity. It suggests that when churches actively work to relieve suffering in their communities through programs like medical missionary work, God will bless their efforts and use them to spread his message throughout the world. It also notes that failing to engage in works of mercy keeps churches from prospering.
The document discusses the biblical concept of atonement. It notes that atonement means "at-one-ment" or being "at one" with God. It explores multiple Bible passages showing Jesus and the Father being "one" in works and purpose. It indicates Jesus' works of healing and helping people fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy. It suggests true followers of Christ will perform similar works of healing, helping the oppressed, feeding the hungry, and uplifting those in need. By doing these works, believers can experience at-one-ment with God and others.
The document discusses how believers are sanctified and born again by the Word and the Holy Spirit. It provides several Bible verses showing that sanctification comes through the Spirit and belief in the truth of God's Word. The Word of God is said to be the mechanism by which the Spirit is carried to the believer, as the messages of God's Spirit are poured out through His Word. When believers accept the living, spirit-giving messages of God's Word, the Holy Spirit is then able to work within them to transform the mind. However, the document cautions that the Spirit should not be confused with God or thought of as inhabiting believers in a way that compromises free will. Overall, the key points are that sanctification
This document discusses the final demonstration of God's wisdom and justice. It explains that God will demonstrate through the sealing of the 144,000 that He can correctly identify those who are worthy of salvation. It notes the 144,000 will face their most difficult test during the "time of Jacob's trouble" when it will seem like God has become their enemy, yet they will remain faithful. This will prove to onlooking beings that God's judgments on saving the righteous and destroying the wicked are justified.
The document discusses the history of interactions between the Jews and Greeks after Alexander the Great's conquests. Many young Jewish men were encouraged to study in Greek schools in Alexandria to gain knowledge, influence, and prestige. Over time, this led to a decline in spiritual influence as rabbinical teachings and traditions increased in importance. By the time of Christ, the Jews had lost sight of the spiritual meaning behind their rituals and ceremonies, instead focusing on outward compliance to numerous man-made traditions and laws. This legalism and hypocrisy had replaced a relationship with God.
This document discusses the latter rain and Pentecost, drawing comparisons between the two outpourings of the Holy Spirit. It provides biblical references to support the concept of a latter rain revival as foretold in prophecies such as Zechariah 10:1 and Joel 2:23. The document asserts that as with Pentecost, God's people must earnestly seek the Holy Spirit and have living connections to God in order to experience the latter rain and be prepared for Christ's return.
This document discusses the significance of Pentecost and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It references visions of a great reformatory movement among God's people with signs of healing and intercession. The Pentecostal outpouring was a sign from heaven that Christ's inauguration as priest and king was complete. The document encourages studying the book of Acts and cultivating deeper piety and humility. It draws parallels between the former and latter rains spoken of by Joel that ripen the harvest, representing the early and latter outpourings of God's spirit.
The document discusses the financial crisis and its relation to biblical prophecies. It warns that the centralization of wealth and power in the hands of the few at the expense of the many, combined with unrest among the poorer classes and worldwide dissemination of revolutionary ideas, risks involving the world in a struggle similar to the French Revolution. It cites biblical passages predicting men's hearts failing from fear of events coming upon the earth, the powers of heaven being shaken, and the coming of the Son of man. It also warns about a future where no one will be able to buy or sell without receiving a mark from or pledging allegiance to the beast.
This document provides a summary of 20 presentations on the Book of Acts focusing on themes like the purpose of the book, the experience of the early church, persecution as a seed, breaking prejudice, and false education being overthrown according to the presentations. It concludes by providing a link to download a full presentation on the Book of Acts called "The Final Reformation" by Sami Wilberforce.
The document contains diagrams of the layout of the Tabernacle constructed by Moses during the Israelites' time in the wilderness. It depicts the outer courtyard and the two inner rooms - the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place. The Most Holy Place housed the Ark of the Covenant, and the inner rooms contained furnishings like the table of showbread, the golden lampstand, and altars. The document also mentions how no sinner need die because a substitute was provided.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
2. “Love not the world, neither the things that are in
the world. If any man love the world, the love of
the Father is not in him. For all that is in the
world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the
eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father,
but is of the world. And the world passeth away,
and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of
God abideth for ever.”
Clad in the armor of Christ's righteousness, the
church is to enter upon her final conflict. "Fair as
the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an
army with banners," she is to go forth into all the
world, conquering and to conquer. {ML 311.2}
3. • Christ says to man, "You are mine. I have bought you. You are now only a
rough stone, but if you will place yourself in my hands, I will polish you, and
the luster with which you shall shine will bring honor to My name. No man
shall pluck you out of My hand. I will make you My peculiar treasure. On My
coronation day, you will be a jewel in My crown of rejoicing." {OHC 322.3}
• The divine Worker spends little time on worthless material. Only the
precious jewels does He polish after the similitude of a palace, cutting away
all the rough edges. This process is severe and trying; it hurts human pride.
Christ cuts deep into the experience that man in his self-sufficiency has
regarded as complete, and takes away self-uplifting from the character. He
cuts away the surplus surface, and putting the stone to the polishing wheel,
presses it close, that all roughness may be worn away. Then, holding the
jewel up to the light, the Master sees in it a reflection of Himself, and He
pronounces it worthy of a place in His casket. "In that day, saith the Lord of
hosts, will I take thee,... and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen
thee, saith the Lord of hosts." Blessed be the experience, however severe,
that gives new value to the stone, and causes it to shine with living
brightness. {OHC 322.4}
4. • The children of Sabbath-keeping parents, who have had
great light, who have been the objects of the tenderest
solicitude, may be the ones who will leave a heritage of
shame, who will sow to the wind and reap the whirlwind.
In the judgment the names of those who have sinned
against great light will be written with those who are
condemned to be separated from the presence of the Lord
and from the glory of His power. They will be lost, lost, and
will be numbered with the scorners of the grace of Christ.
{MYP 87.3} I would rather see my children laid in the grave
than see them taking the path that leads to death. The
terrible fact that I had nurtured children to fight against the
God of heaven, to swell the ranks of apostates in the last
days, to march under the black banner of Satan, would
indeed be a thought of horror to me. {MYP 88.1}
5. • Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great
things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. Mark 5:19.
• In forming a relationship with Christ, the renewed man is but coming back to his appointed relationship
with God. He is a representative of Christ. . . . His duties lie around him, nigh and afar off. His first duty is
to his children and his nearest relatives. Nothing can excuse him from neglecting the inner circle for the
larger circle outside. In the day of final reckoning fathers and mothers will be required to answer in
regard to their children. Parents will be asked what they did and said to secure the salvation of the souls
they took upon themselves the responsibility of bringing into the world. . . . {OHC 304.2}
• Fathers and mothers, are you allowing your children to grow up in impurity and sin? A great good done
for others will not cancel the debt you owe to God to care for your children. The spiritual welfare of your
family comes first. Take them with you to the cross of Calvary, laboring for them as those that must give
an account. {OHC 304.3}
• Parents should seek to gain the cooperation of their children. Thus children can become laborers
together with God. Some households have a little church in their home. Mutual love binds heart to
heart, and the unity that exists among the members of the family preaches the most effectual sermon
that could be preached on practical godliness. {OHC 304.4}
• As parents faithfully do their duty in the family, restraining, correcting, advising, counseling, guiding, the
father as priest of the household, the mother as a home missionary, they are filling the sphere God
would have them fill. By faithfully doing their duty in the home, they are multiplying agencies for doing
good outside the home. They are becoming better fitted to labor in the church. By training their little
flock discreetly, binding their children to themselves and to God, fathers and mothers become laborers
together with God. . . . The members of the family become members of the royal family above, children
of the heavenly King. {OHC 304.5}
6. • Parents who have never felt the care
which they should feel for the souls of
their children, and who have never given
them proper restraint and instruction, are
the very ones who manifest the most
bitter opposition when their children are
restrained, reproved, or corrected at
school. Some of these children are a
disgrace to the church and a disgrace to
the name of Adventists. {5T 51.3}
7. FINAL PREPARATIONS AND FINAL
APPEALS OF MERCY
Proverb 22:3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth
himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
Let everyone who loves God consider that now while it is day is
the time to work, not among the sheep already in the fold, but to
go out in search of the lost and perishing ones. These need to
have special help to bring them back to the fold. Now is the time
for the careless to arouse from their slumber. Now is the time to
entreat that souls shall not only hear the word of God, but
without delay secure oil in their vessels with their lamps. That oil
is the righteousness of Christ. It represents character, and
character is not transferable. No man can secure it for another.
Each must obtain for himself a character purified from every
stain of sin. {TM 233.2}

10. THERE IS A LIMIT
Ac:17:26: And hath made of
one blood all nations of men for
to dwell on all the face of the
earth, and hath determined the
times before appointed, and the
bounds of their habitation;
11. For six thousand years, Satan's work of rebellion has "made the earth to
tremble." He had "made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities
thereof." And he "opened not the house of his prisoners." For six thousand
years his prison house has received God's people, and he would have held
them captive forever; but Christ had broken his bonds and set the prisoners
free. {GC 659.3} Even the wicked are now placed beyond the power of
Satan, and alone with his evil angels he remains to realize the effect of the
curse which sin has brought. "The kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in
glory, everyone in his own house [the grave]. But thou art cast out of thy
grave like an abominable branch. . . . Thou shalt not be joined with them in
burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people." Isaiah
14:18-20. {GC 660.1} For a thousand years, Satan will wander to and fro in
the desolate earth to behold the results of his rebellion against the law of
God. During this time his sufferings are intense. Since his fall his life of
unceasing activity has banished reflection; but he is now deprived of his
power and left to contemplate the part which he has acted since first he
rebelled against the government of heaven, and to look forward with
trembling and terror to the dreadful future when he must suffer for all the evil
that he has done and be punished for the sins that he has caused to be
committed. {GC 660.2}
12.
13. Never did this message apply with greater force than it applies
today. More and more the world is setting at nought the claims
of God. Men have become bold in transgression. The wickedness
of the inhabitants of the world has almost filled up the measure
of their iniquity. This earth has almost reached the place where
God will permit the destroyer to work his will upon it. The
substitution of the laws of men for the law of God, the
exaltation, by merely human authority, of Sunday in place of the
Bible Sabbath, is the last act in the drama. When this
substitution becomes universal, God will reveal Himself. He will
arise in His majesty to shake terribly the earth. He will come out
of His place to punish the inhabitants of the world for their
iniquity, and the earth shall disclose her blood and shall no more
cover her slain. {7T 141.1}
14. M't 24:6-8: And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see
that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass,
but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and
kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and
pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the
beginning of sorrows.
Rom 8:19-23: For the earnest expectation of the creature
waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the
creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason
of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the
creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of
corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we
know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain
together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which
have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within
ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our
body.
15. We are living in the time of the end. The fast-fulfilling signs of the
times declare that the coming of Christ is near at hand. The days in
which we live are solemn and important. The Spirit of God is
gradually but surely being withdrawn from the earth. Plagues and
judgments are already falling upon the despisers of the grace of
God. The calamities by land and sea, the unsettled state of society,
the alarms of war, are portentous. They forecast approaching
events of the greatest magnitude. {9T 11.1} The agencies of
evil are combining their forces and consolidating. They are
strengthening for the last great crisis. Great changes are soon to
take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones.
{9T 11.2} The condition of things in the world shows that
troublous times are right upon us. The daily papers are full of
indications of a terrible conflict in the near future. Bold robberies
are of frequent occurrence. Strikes are common. Thefts and
murders are committed on every hand. Men possessed of demons
are taking the lives of men, women, and little children. Men have
become infatuated with vice, and every species of evil prevails. {9T
11.3}
16. While appearing to the children of men as a great physician who
can heal all their maladies, he will bring disease and disaster,
until populous cities are reduced to ruin and desolation. Even
now he is at work. In accidents and calamities by sea and by
land, in great conflagrations, in fierce tornadoes and terrific
hailstorms, in tempests, floods, cyclones, tidal waves, and
earthquakes, in every place and in a thousand forms, Satan is
exercising his power. He sweeps away the ripening harvest, and
famine and distress follow. He imparts to the air a deadly taint,
and thousands perish by the pestilence. These visitations are to
become more and more frequent and disastrous. Destruction will
be upon both man and beast. "The earth mourneth and fadeth
away," "the haughty people . . . do languish. The earth also is
defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have
transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the
everlasting covenant." Isaiah 24:4, 5. {DD 33.4}
17. The World blaming the wrong Person
Gen 8:20-22: And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean
beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the LORD
smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the
ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his
youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. While the
earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter,
and day and night shall not cease.
Gen 9:9-17 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after
you; And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of
every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the
earth. And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any
more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the
earth. And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and
you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations. I do set my
bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be
seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you
and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to
destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may
remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh
that is upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant,
which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
18. The Cause of Evil Falsely Identified
And then the great deceiver will persuade men that those who serve God are
causing these evils. The class that have provoked the displeasure of Heaven
will charge all their troubles upon those whose obedience to God's
commandments is a perpetual reproof to transgressors. It will be declared
that men are offending God by the violation of the Sunday sabbath; that this
sin has brought calamities which will not cease until Sunday observance shall
be strictly enforced; and that those who present the claims of the fourth
commandment, thus destroying reverence for Sunday, are troublers of the
people, preventing their restoration to divine favor and temporal prosperity.
Thus the accusation urged of old against the servant of God will be repeated
and upon grounds equally well established: "And it came to pass, when Ahab
saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel? And he
answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that
ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed
Baalim." 1 Kings 18:17, 18. As the wrath of the people shall be excited by
false charges, they will pursue a course toward God's ambassadors very
similar to that which apostate Israel pursued toward Elijah. {DD 34.1}
19. Right Message Wrong Time vs Right Message Right Time
UFO vs IFO
2Pe:3:1-15: This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure
minds by way of remembrance: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before
by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things
continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of,
that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in
the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the
heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire
against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this
one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering
to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the
day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a
great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are
therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of
persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the
coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements
shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens
and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for
such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And
account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also
according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
20. In consideration of the shortness of time we as a people should
watch and pray, and in no case allow ourselves to be diverted
from the solemn work of preparation for the great event before
us. Because the time is apparently extended, many have become
careless and indifferent in regard to their words and actions.
They do not realize their danger and do not see and understand
the mercy of our God in lengthening their probation, that they
may have time to form characters for the future, immortal life.
Every moment is of the highest value. Time is granted them, not
to be employed in studying their own ease and becoming
dwellers on the earth, but to be used in the work of overcoming
every defect in their own characters and in helping others, by
example and personal effort, to see the beauty of holiness. God
has a people upon the earth who in faith and holy hope
are tracing down the roll of fast-fulfilling prophecy and
are seeking to purify their souls by obeying the truth,
that they may not be found without the wedding
garment when Christ shall appear. {4T 306.3}

God by the violation of the Sunday
sabbath; that this sin has brought
calamities which will not cease until
Sunday observance shall be strictly

claims of the fourth commandment, thus
destroying reverence for Sunday, are
troublers of the people, preventing their
restoration to divine favor and temporal
prosperity. {GC 590.1}

34. The history which the great I AM has
marked out in His word, uniting link after
link in the prophetic chain, from eternity in
the past to eternity in the future, tells us
where we are today in the procession of
the ages, and what may be expected in the
time to come. All that prophecy has
foretold as coming to pass, until the
present time, has been traced on the
pages of history, and we may be assured
that all which is yet to come will be fulfilled
in its order. {Ed 178.3}

38. "Time is almost finished. Do you reflect the
lovely image of Jesus as you should?" Then
I was pointed to the earth and saw that
there would have to be a getting ready
among those who have of late embraced
the third angel's message. Said the angel,
"Get ready, get ready, get ready. Ye will
have to die a greater death to the world
than ye have ever yet died." I saw that
there was a great work to do for them and
but little time in which to do it. {EW 64.1}

40. I also saw that many do not realize
what they must be in order to live
in the sight of the Lord without a
high priest in the sanctuary
through the time of trouble. Those
who receive the seal of the living
God and are protected in the time
of trouble must reflect the image of
Jesus fully. {EW 71.1}

1Peter 2:21-25 For even hereunto were ye called:
because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an
example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no
sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when
he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he
threatened not; but committed himself to him that
judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in
his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins,
should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye
were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but
are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of
your souls.

44. Re:6:17: For the great day of his wrath is come; and
who shall be able to stand?
God's purpose in giving the third angel's message to
the world is to prepare a people to stand true to Him
during the investigative judgment. This is the purpose
for which we establish and maintain our publishing
houses, our schools, our sanitariums, hygienic
restaurants, treatment rooms, and food factories. This
is our purpose in carrying forward every line of work in
the cause. Ms 154, 1902, p. 4. ("Instruction to Men in
Positions of Responsibility," October 24, 1902.) {1MR

46. Rom 16:17, 18: Now I beseech you, brethren, mark
them which cause divisions and offences contrary to
the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ,
but their own belly; and by good words and fair
speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Ph'p:3:17-19: Brethren, be followers together of me,
and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an
ensample. (For many walk, of whom I have told you
often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the
enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is
destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory
is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
47. In 1844 our great High Priest entered the most holy place of the
heavenly sanctuary, to begin the work of the investigative
judgment. The cases of the righteous dead have been passing in
review before God. When that work shall be completed,
judgment is to be pronounced upon the living. {1SM 125.1}
The Lord has shown me clearly that the image of the beast will
be formed before probation closes; for it is to be the great test
for the people of God, by which their eternal destiny will be
decided. . . . [Revelation 13:11-17 quoted.] . . . {7BC 976.2}
This is the test that the people of God must have before they are
sealed. All who proved their loyalty to God by observing His law,
and refusing to accept a spurious sabbath, will rank under the
banner of the Lord God Jehovah, and will receive the seal of the
living God. Those who yield the truth of heavenly origin and
accept the Sunday sabbath, will receive the mark of the beast
(Letter 11, 1890). {7BC 976.3}

50. What are we supposed to do?
Results of Church School Work
When properly conducted, church schools will be the means of lifting the standard of
truth in the places where they are established; for children who are receiving a
Christian education will be witnesses for Christ. As Jesus in the temple solved the
mysteries which priests and rulers had not discerned, so in the closing work of this
earth children who have been rightly educated will in their simplicity speak words
which will be an astonishment to men who now talk of "higher education." As the
children sang in the temple courts, "Hosanna; Blessed is He that cometh in the name
of the Lord," so in these last days children's voices will be raised to give the last
message of warning to a perishing world. When heavenly intelligences see that men
are no longer permitted to present the truth, the Spirit of God will come upon the
children, and they will do a work in the proclamation of the truth which the older
workers cannot do, because their way will be hedged up. {6T 202.2} Our church
schools are ordained by God to prepare the children for this great work. Here children
are to be instructed in the special truths for this time and in practical missionary work.
They are to enlist in the army of workers to help the sick and the suffering. Children
can take part in the medical missionary work and by their jots and tittles can help to
carry it forward. Their investments may be small, but every little helps, and by their
efforts many souls will be won to the truth. By them God's message will be made
known and His saving health to all nations. Then let the church carry a burden for the
lambs of the flock. Let the children be educated and trained to do service for God, for
they are the Lord's heritage. {6T 203.1}
51. It was God's will that the tidings of the Saviour's coming should be given in
the Scandinavian countries; and when the voices of His servants were
silenced, He put His Spirit upon the children, that the work might be
accomplished. When Jesus drew near to Jerusalem attended by the rejoicing
multitudes that, with shouts of triumph and the waving of palm branches,
heralded Him as the Son of David, the jealous Pharisees called upon Him to
silence them; but Jesus answered that all this was in fulfillment of prophecy,
and if these should hold their peace, the very stones would cry out. The
people, intimidated by the threats of the priests and rulers, ceased their joyful
proclamation as they entered the gates of Jerusalem; but the children in the
temple courts afterward took up the refrain, and, waving their branches of
palm, they cried: "Hosanna to the Son of David!" Matthew 21:8-16. When the
Pharisees, sorely displeased, said unto Him, "Hearest Thou what these say?"
Jesus answered, "Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and
sucklings Thou hast perfected praise?" As God wrought through children at
the time of Christ's first advent, so He wrought through them in giving the
message of His second advent. God's word must be fulfilled, that the
proclamation of the Saviour's coming should be given to all peoples, tongues,
and nations. {GC 367.2}
52. Characters are to be developed that will decide the fitness of the human
family for the heavenly home--characters that will stand through the
pressure of unfavorable circumstances in private and public life, and that
will, under the severest temptations, through the grace of God grow brave
and true, be firm as a rock to principle, and come forth from the fiery
ordeal, of more value than the golden wedge of Ophir. God will endorse,
with His own superscription, as His elect, those who possess such
characters. . . . {OHC 215.3}
Character tested like a sponge
The Lord has shown me clearly that the image of the beast will be formed
before probation closes, for it is to be the great test [SEE THE PREVIOUS

which their eternal destiny will be decided.--2SM 81 (1890). {LDE 227.3}

53. God is full of love and plenteous in mercy; but He will by no
means acquit those who neglect the great salvation He has
provided. The long-lived antediluvians were swept from the earth
because they made void the divine law. God will not again bring
from the heavens above and the earth beneath waters as His
weapons to use in the destruction of the world; but when next
His vengeance shall be poured out against those who despise His
authority, they will be destroyed by fire concealed in the bowels
of the earth, awakened into intense activity by fires from heaven
above. Then from the purified earth shall arise a song of praise:
"Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that
sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever."
Revelation 5:13. "Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God
Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints." And
every one who has made the heavenly treasure the first
consideration will join in the glad triumphant strain. {OHC

54. 2Peter 1:10-12, 15, 16, 19 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give
diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do
these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be
ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of
our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Wherefore I will not be
negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things,
though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease
to have these things always in remembrance. For we have not
followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto
you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were
eyewitnesses of his majesty. We have also a more sure word of
prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a
light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the
day star arise in your hearts:
55.
56. Everything will mean nothing in just a little short while.
M'r:8:36: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain
the whole world, and lose his own soul
"Time is almost finished. Do you reflect the lovely
image of Jesus as you should?" Then I was pointed to
the earth and saw that there would have to be a
getting ready among those who have of late embraced
the third angel's message. Said the angel, "Get ready,
get ready, get ready. Ye will have to die a greater death
to the world than ye have ever yet died." I saw that
there was a great work to do for them and but little
time in which to do it. {EW 64.1}
57. The value of a soul, who can estimate? Would you
know its worth, go to Gethsemane, and there
watch with Christ through those hours of anguish,
when He sweat as it were great drops of blood.
Look upon the Saviour uplifted on the cross. Hear
that despairing cry, "My God, My God, why hast
Thou forsaken Me?" Mark 15:34. Look upon the
wounded head, the pierced side, the marred feet.
Remember that Christ risked all. For our
redemption, heaven itself was imperiled. At the
foot of the cross, remembering that for one sinner
Christ would have laid down His life, you may
estimate the value of a soul. {COL 196.4}
58. Before the Father [Christ] pleaded in the sinner’s
behalf, while the host of heaven awaited the
result with an intensity of interest that words
cannot express. Long continued was that
mysterious communing—“the counsel of peace”for
the fallen human race. The plan of salvation had
been laid before the creation of the earth, for
Christ is “the Lamb slain from the foundation of
the world.” Yet it was a struggle, even with the
King of the universe, to yield up His Son to die for
the guilty race. . . . Oh, the mystery of
redemption! The love of God for a world that did
not love Him! Who can know the depths of that
love that “passeth knowledge”? . . . {CTr 30.4}
59. The time is not far off when the people of God will be called
upon to give their testimony before the rulers of the earth. Not
one in twenty has a realization of what rapid strides we are
making toward the great crisis in our history. . . . There is no
time for vanity, for trifling, for engaging the mind in unimportant
matters. {OHC 355.2} Kings, governors, and great men will
hear of you through the reports of those who are at enmity with
you, and your faith and character will be misrepresented before
them. But those who are falsely accused will have an opportunity
to appear in the presence of their accusers to answer for
themselves. They will have the privilege of bringing the light
before those who are called the great men of the earth, and if
you have studied the Bible, if you are ready to give an answer to
every man that asketh you of the hope that is in you with
meekness and fear, your enemies will not be able to gainsay your
wisdom. {OHC 355.3}
60. You are now to get ready for the time of trial. Now you are to know whether
your feet are planted on the Eternal Rock. You must have an individual
experience, and not depend upon others for your light. When you are brought
to the test, how do you know that you will not be alone, with no earthly friend
at your side? Will you then be able to realize that Christ is your support? Will
you be able to recall the promise, "Lo, I am with you alway, even to the end
of the world"? There will be invisible ones all about you bent upon your
destruction. Satan and his agents will seek in every way to make you waver
from your steadfastness to God and His truth. But if you have an eye single to
His glory, you need not take thought as to how you shall witness for His truth.
{OHC 356.3}
Young men and women, are you growing up to the full stature of men and
women in Christ, so that when the crisis comes, you cannot be separated
from the Source of your strength? If we would stand during the time of test,
we must now, in the time of peace, be gaining a living experience in the
things of God. We must now learn to understand what are the deep movings
of the Spirit of God. Christ must be our all and in all, the Alpha and Omega,
the first and the last, the beginning and the end. {OHC 356.4}
61. The end of all things is at hand. The day of
God is hastening on apace. The world is
full of crime and anguish and sorrow.
There are calamities by land and by sea.
Storm and tempest make it unsafe for us
to be separated from God for one single
moment. Only those who live by faith in
this probationary life, will be able to stand
in the day of test, when everything that
can be shaken will be shaken, but they
shall dwell in safety and be unmoved.
{OHC 354.5}
62. Oh, there is a great work to be done for
the people of God, ere they are prepared
for translation to heaven! The heat of the
furnace upon some must be severe to
reveal the dross. Self will have to be
crucified. When each believer is to the very
extent of his knowledge obeying the Lord,
and yet seeking to give no just occasion to
his fellow men to oppress him, he should
not fear the results, even though it be
imprisonment and death.... {OHC 323.3}
65. I saw the necessity of the messengers, especially, watching
and checking all fanaticism wherever they might see it rise.
Satan is pressing in on every side, and unless we watch for
him, and have our eyes open to his devices and snares, and
have on the whole armor of God, the fiery darts of the wicked
will hit us. There are many precious truths contained in the
Word of God, but it is "present truth" that the flock needs
now. I have seen the danger of the messengers running off
from the important points of present truth, to dwell upon
subjects that are not calculated to unite the flock and sanctify
the soul. Satan will here take every possible advantage to
injure the cause. {EW 63.1} But such subjects as the
sanctuary, in connection with the 2300 days, the
commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, are perfectly
calculated to explain the past Advent movement and show
what our present position is, establish the faith of the
doubting, and give certainty to the glorious future. These, I
have frequently seen, were the principal subjects on which
the messengers should dwell. {EW 63.2}
66. Ac 17:26: And hath made of
one blood all nations of men
for to dwell on all the face
of the earth, and hath
determined the times before
appointed, and the bounds
of their habitation;

68. FEAST OF TRUMPETS 10 DAYS (YEARS) TO THE DAY OF ATONEMENT
In 1833 Miller received a license to preach, from the
Baptist Church, of which he was a member. A large
number of the ministers of his denomination also
approved his work, and it was with their formal sanction
that he continued his labors. He traveled and preached
unceasingly, though his personal labors were confined
principally to the New England and Middle States. For
several years his expenses were met wholly from his
own private purse, and he never afterward received
enough to meet the expense of travel to the places
where he was invited. Thus his public labors, so far from
being a pecuniary benefit, were a heavy tax upon his
property, which gradually diminished during this period
of his life. He was the father of a large family, but as they
were all frugal and industrious, his farm sufficed for their
maintenance as well as his own. {GC 332.1}
69. LAST HARBINGER
In 1833, two years after Miller began to present in public the evidences of
Christ's soon coming, the last of the signs appeared which were promised by
the Saviour as tokens of His second advent. Said Jesus: "The stars shall fall
from heaven." Matthew 24:29. And John in the Revelation declared, as he
beheld in vision the scenes that should herald the day of God: "The stars of
heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when
she is shaken of a mighty wind." Revelation 6:13. This prophecy received a
striking and impressive fulfillment in the great meteoric shower of
November 13, 1833. That was the most extensive and wonderful display of
falling stars which has ever been recorded; "the whole firmament, over all
the United States, being then, for hours, in fiery commotion! No celestial
phenomenon has ever occurred in this country, since its first settlement,
which was viewed with such intense admiration by one class in the
community, or with so much dread and alarm by another." "Its sublimity
and awful beauty still linger in many minds. . . . Never did rain fall much
thicker than the meteors fell toward the earth; east, west, north, and south,
it was the same. In a word, the whole heavens seemed in motion. . . . The
display, as described in Professor Silliman's Journal, was seen all over North
America. . . . From two o'clock until broad daylight, the sky being perfectly
serene and cloudless, an incessant play of dazzlingly brilliant luminosities
was kept up in the whole heavens."--R. M. Devens, American Progress; or,
70. DAY OF ATONEMENT
Thus far every specification of the prophecies is strikingly fulfilled,
and the beginning of the seventy weeks is fixed beyond question at
457 B.C., and their expiration in A.D. 34. From this data there is no
difficulty in finding the termination of the 2300 days. The seventy
weeks--490 days--having been cut off from the 2300, there were
1810 days remaining. After the end of 490 days, the 1810 days were
still to be fulfilled. From A.D. 34, 1810 years extend to 1844.
Consequently the 2300 days of Daniel 8:14 terminate in 1844. At the
expiration of this great prophetic period, upon the testimony of the
angel of God, "the sanctuary shall be cleansed." Thus the time of the
cleansing of the sanctuary--which was almost universally believed to
take place at the second advent--was definitely pointed out. {GC
328.2}
Thus those who followed in the light of the prophetic word saw that,
instead of coming to the earth at the termination of the 2300 days in
1844, Christ then entered the most holy place of the heavenly
sanctuary to perform the closing work of atonement preparatory to
His coming. {GC 422.1}
71. FEAST OF TABERNACLES 5 DAYS (YEARS) AFTER THE DAY OF ATONEMENT
The Sealing
At the commencement of the holy Sabbath, January 5, 1849, we
engaged in prayer with Brother Belden's family at Rocky Hill,
Connecticut, and the Holy Ghost fell upon us. I was taken off in
vision to the most holy place, where I saw Jesus still interceding for
Israel. On the bottom of His garment was a bell and a pomegranate.
Then I saw that Jesus would not leave the most holy place until
every case was decided either for salvation or destruction, and that
the wrath of God could not come until Jesus had finished His work in
the most holy place, laid off His priestly attire, and clothed Himself
with the garments of vengeance. Then Jesus will step out from
between the Father and man, and God will keep silence no longer,
but pour out His wrath on those who have rejected His truth. I saw
that the anger of the nations, the wrath of God, and the time to
judge the dead were separate and distinct, one following the other,
also that Michael had not stood up, and that the time of trouble,
such as never was, had not yet commenced. The nations are now
getting angry, but when our High Priest has finished His work in the
sanctuary, He will stand up, put on the garments of vengeance, and
then the seven last plagues will be poured out. {EW 36.1}
72. 1. On page 33 is given the following: "I saw that the holy Sabbath is, and
will be, the separating wall between the true Israel of God and unbelievers;
and that the Sabbath is the great question to unite the hearts of God's dear,
waiting saints. I saw that God had children who do not see and keep the
Sabbath. They have not rejected the light upon it. And at the
commencement of the time of trouble, we were filled with the Holy Ghost as
we went forth and proclaimed the Sabbath more fully." {EW 85.2} This
view was given in 1847 when there were but very few of the Advent
brethren observing the Sabbath, and of these but few supposed that its
observance was of sufficient importance to draw a line between the people
of God and unbelievers. Now the fulfilment of that view is beginning to be
seen. "The commencement of that time of trouble," here mentioned does
not refer to the time when the plagues shall begin to be poured out, but to a
short period just before they are poured out, while Christ is in the
sanctuary. At that time, while the work of salvation is closing, trouble will
be coming on the earth, and the nations will be angry, yet held in check so
as not to prevent the work of the third angel. At that time the "latter rain,"
or refreshing from the presence of the Lord, will come, to give power to the
loud voice of the third angel, and prepare the saints to stand in the period
when the seven last plagues shall be poured out. {EW 85.3} 2. The view of
"The Open and Shut Door", on pages 42-45, was given in 1849. The
application of Revelation 3:7, 8, to the heavenly sanctuary and Christ's
ministry was entirely new to me. I had never heard the idea advanced by
anyone. Now as the subject of the sanctuary is being clearly understood, the
application is seen in its force and beauty. {EW 86.1}
73. 3. The view that the Lord "had stretched out His hand the second time to
recover the remnant of His people," on page 74, refers only to the union and
strength once existing among those looking for Christ, and to the fact that
He had begun to unite and to raise up His people again. {EW 86.2} 4. Spirit
Manifestations. [SEE APPENDIX.] On page 43 read as follows: "I saw that
the mysterious knocking in New York and other places was the power of
Satan, and that such things would be more and more common, clothed in a
religious garb so as to lull the deceived to greater security and to draw the
minds of God's people, if possible, to those things and cause them to doubt
the teaching and power of the Holy Ghost." This view was given in 1849,
nearly five years since. Then spirit manifestations were mostly confined to
the city of Rochester, known as the "Rochester knockings." Since that time
the heresy has spread beyond the expectations of anyone. {EW 86.3}
Much of the view on page 59, headed "Mysterious Rapping" given August
1850, has since been fulfilled, and is now fulfilling. Here is a portion of it: "I
saw that soon it would be considered blasphemy to speak against the
rapping, and that it would spread more and more, that Satan's power would
increase, and some of his devoted followers would have power to work
miracles, and even to bring down fire from heaven in the sight of men. I was
shown that by the rapping and mesmerism these modern magicians would
yet account for all the miracles wrought by our Lord Jesus Christ, and that
many would believe that all the mighty works of the Son of God when on
earth were accomplished by this same power." {EW 86.4}
74. I saw the rapping delusion-what progress
it was making, and that if it were possible
it would deceive the very elect. Satan will
have power to bring before us the
appearance of forms purporting to be our
relatives or friends now sleeping in Jesus.
It will be made to appear as if these
friends were present; the words that they
uttered while here, with which we were
familiar, will be spoken, and the same tone
of voice that they had while living will fall
upon the ear. All this is to deceive the
saints and ensnare them into the belief of
this delusion. {EW 87.1}
75. Chap. 1 - Dorchester Vision of 1848 and Our First Publishing Ventures
The Dorchester Vision of 1848. [FOLLOWING THEIR RETURN FROM WESTERN NEW YORK IN SEPTEMBER,
1848, ELDER AND MRS. WHITE JOURNEYED TO MAINE, WHERE THEY HELD A MEETING WITH THE
BELIEVERS, OCTOBER 20-22. THIS WAS THE TOPSHAM CONFERENCE, WHERE THE BRETHREN BEGAN
PRAYING THAT A WAY MIGHT BE OPENED FOR PUBLISHING THE TRUTHS CONNECTED WITH THE
ADVENT MESSAGE. A MONTH LATER THEY WERE WITH "A SMALL COMPANY OF BRETHREN AND
SISTERS," WRITES JOSEPH BATES IN HIS PAMPHLET ON "THE SEALING MESSAGE," "ASSEMBLED IN
MEETING IN DORCHESTER, NEAR BOSTON, MASS." "BEFORE THE MEETING COMMENCED," HE
CONTINUES, "SOME OF US WERE EXAMINING SOME OF THE POINTS IN THE SEALING MESSAGE; SOME
DIFFERENCE OF OPINION EXISTED ABOUT THE CORRECTNESS OF THE VIEW OF THE WORD 'ASCENDING'
[SEE REVELATION 7:2], ETC." ELDER JAMES WHITE, IN. . . GIVING HIS ACCOUNT OF THIS MEETING,
WRITES: "WE ALL FELT LIKE UNITING TO ASK WISDOM FROM GOD ON THE POINTS IN DISPUTE; ALSO
BROTHER BATES'S DUTY IN WRITING. WE HAD AN EXCEEDINGLY POWERFUL MEETING. ELLEN WAS
AGAIN TAKEN OFF IN VISION. SHE THEN BEGAN TO DESCRIBE THE SABBATH LIGHT, WHICH WAS THE
SEALING TRUTH. SAID SHE; 'IT AROSE FROM THE RISING OF THE SUN. IT AROSE BACK THERE IN
WEAKNESS, BUT LIGHT AFTER LIGHT HAS SHONE UPON IT UNTIL THE SABBATH TRUTH IS CLEAR,
WEIGHTY, AND MIGHTY. LIKE THE SUN WHEN IT FIRST RISES, ITS RAYS ARE COLD, BUT AS IT COMES
UP, ITS RAYS ARE WARMING AND POWERFUL; SO THE LIGHT AND POWER HAS INCREASED MORE AND
MORE UNTIL ITS RAYS ARE POWERFUL, SANCTIFYING THE SOUL; BUT, UNLIKE THE SUN, IT WILL NEVER
SET. THE SABBATH LIGHT WILL BE AT ITS BRIGHTEST WHEN THE SAINTS ARE IMMORTAL; IT WILL RISE
HIGHER AND HIGHER UNTIL IMMORTALITY COMES.' "SHE SAW MANY INTERESTING THINGS ABOUT
THIS GLORIOUS SEALING SABBATH, WHICH I HAVE NOT TIME OR SPACE TO RECORD. SHE TOLD
BROTHER BATES TO WRITE THE THINGS HE HAD SEEN AND HEARD, AND THE BLESSING OF GOD WOULD
ATTEND IT." IT WAS AFTER THIS VISION THAT MRS. WHITE INFORMED HER HUSBAND OF HIS DUTY TO
PUBLISH, AND THAT AS HE SHOULD ADVANCE BY FAITH, SUCCESS WOULD ATTEND HIS EFFORTS.--LS
116, FOOTNOTE. REGARDING THIS VISION OF NOVEMBER 18, 1848, ELDER JOSEPH BATES TESTIFIED
THAT HE SAW AND HEARD THE FOLLOWING FROM THE LIPS OF ELLEN HARMON: "'YEA, PUBLISH THE
THINGS THOU HAST SEEN AND HEARD, AND THE BLESSING OF GOD WILL ATTEND. LOOK YE! THAT
RISING IS IN STRENGTH, AND GROWS BRIGHTER AND BRIGHTER!' . . . THE ABOVE WAS COPIED WORD
FOR WORD AS SHE SPAKE IN VISION, THEREFORE IT'S UNADULTERATED."--A SEAL OF THE LIVING GOD
(SEVENTY-TWO-PAGE PAMPHLET PUBLISHED BY JOSEPH BATES IN 1849), P. 26.]--At a meeting held in
Dorchester, Mass., November, 1848, I had been given a view of the proclamation of the sealing message,
and of the duty of the brethren to publish the light that was shining upon our pathway. 16 {PM 15.1}

been given a view of the proclamation of
the sealing message, and of the duty of
the brethren to publish the light that was

The sealing time is very short, and will
soon be over. Now is the time, while the
four angels are holding the four winds, to
make our calling and election sure. {EW

77. Had Adventists, after the great
disappointment in 1844, held fast their
faith, and followed on unitedly in the
opening providence of God, receiving the
message of the third angel and in the
power of the Holy Spirit proclaiming it to
the world, they would have seen the
salvation of God, the Lord would have
wrought mightily with their efforts, the
work would have been completed, and
Christ would have come ere this to receive
His people to their reward. {1SM 68.1}
78. 1849
Sabbath afternoon one of our number was sick, and requested prayers that
he might be healed. We all united in applying to the Physician who never lost
a case, and while healing power came down, and the sick was healed, the
Spirit fell upon me, and I was taken off in vision. I saw four angels who had a
work to do on the earth, and were on their way to accomplish it. Jesus was
clothed with Priestly garments. He gazed in pity on the remnant, then raised
his hands upward, and with a voice of deep pity cried--"My Blood, Father, My
Blood, My Blood, My Blood". Then I saw an exceeding bright light come from
God, who sat upon the great white throne, and was shed all about Jesus.
Then I saw an angel with a commission from Jesus, swiftly flying to the four
angels who had a work to do on the earth, and waving something up and
down in his hand, and crying with a loud voice--"Hold! Hold! Hold! Hold! until
the servants of God are sealed in their foreheads." I asked my accompanying
angel the meaning of what I heard, and what the four angels were about to
do. He shewed me that it was God that restrained the powers, and that he
gave his angels charge over things on the earth, and that the four angels had
power from God to hold the four winds, and that they were about to let the
four winds go, and while they had started on their mission to let them go, the
merciful eye of Jesus gazed on the remnant that were not all sealed, then he
raised his hands to the Father and plead with him that he had spilled his
blood for them.--Then another angel was commissioned to fly swiftly to the
four angels, and bid them hold until the servants of God were sealed with the
seal of the living God in their foreheads.{Broadside2, January 31, 1849 par.3}

80. AT THE START OF THE FEAST OF
TABERNACLES, CHRIST HAD TO COME
AND START 1000 YEARS OF PEACE IN
HEAVEN BUT HE DID NOT COME IN
1849 AFTER THE SEALING MESSAGE
HAD BEEN GIVEN IN 1848.
SPIRITUAL ISRAEL NOW HAVE TO
WONDER FOR FORTY YEARS IN
WILDERNESS. THIS WOULD TAKE
THEM TO 1889 A YEAR AFTER 1888
BUT WHY DID THIS HAPPEN!?
81. Exodus 14:2, 3 Speak unto the children of Israel, that
they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between
Migdol and the sea, over against Baal-zephon: before it
shall ye encamp by the sea. 3: For Pharaoh will say of the
children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the
wilderness hath shut them in.
Deuteronomy 1:19: And when we departed from Horeb,
we went through all that great and terrible wilderness,
which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the
Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we
came to Kadesh-barnea.
Deuteronomy 1:2: (There are eleven days' journey from
Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadesh-barnea.)
82. A distance of only eleven days' journey lay between Sinai and
Kadesh, on the borders of Canaan; and it was with the prospect of
speedily entering the goodly land that the hosts of Israel resumed
their march when the cloud at last gave the signal for an onward
movement. Jehovah had wrought wonders in bringing them from
Egypt, and what blessings might they not expect now that they had
formally covenanted to accept Him as their Sovereign, and had been
acknowledged as the chosen people of the Most High? {PP 376.3}
Chap. 34 - The Twelve Spies
Eleven days after leaving Mount Horeb the Hebrew host encamped
at Kadesh, in the wilderness of Paran, which was not far from the
borders of the Promised Land. Here it was proposed by the people
that spies be sent up to survey the country. The matter was
presented before the Lord by Moses, and permission was granted,
with the direction that one of the rulers of each tribe should be
selected for this purpose. The men were chosen as had been
directed, and Moses bade them go and see the country, what it was,
its situation and natural advantages; and the people that dwelt
therein, whether they were strong or weak, few or many; also to
observe the nature of the soil and its productiveness and to bring of
the fruit of the land. {PP 387.1}
83. "It was not the will of God that the coming of Christ should be thus
delayed. God did not design that His people, Israel, should wander
forty years in the wilderness. He promised to lead them directly to
the land of Canaan, and establish them there a holy, healthy, people.
But those to whom it was first preached, went not in 'because of
unbelief.' Their hearts were filled with murmuring, rebellion, and
hatred, and He could not fulfill His covenant with them. {Ev 696.1}
"For forty years did unbelief, murmuring, and rebellion shut out
ancient Israel from the land of Canaan. The same sins have delayed
the entrance of modern Israel into the heavenly Canaan. In neither
case were the promises of God at fault. It is the unbelief, the
worldliness, unconsecration, and strife among the Lord's professed
people that have kept us in this world of sin and sorrow so many
years" (Ms 4, 1883, quoted in Evangelism, pp. 695, 696).
Rom 9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in
righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the
earth.
84. 1888 - The Beginning of the Loud Cry (1 YEAR TO 1889, FORTY
YEARS OF SPIRITUAL ISRAEL WONDERING IN THE WILDERNESS
SINCE 1849 WHEN THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES COULD HAVE
STARTED)
Let every one who claims to believe that the Lord is soon coming,
search the Scriptures as never before; for Satan is determined to try
every device possible to keep souls in darkness, and blind the mind
to the perils of the times in which we are living. Let every believer
take up his Bible with earnest prayer, that he may be enlightened by
the holy Spirit as to what is truth, that he may know more of God
and of Jesus Christ whom he has sent. Search for the truth as for
hidden treasures, and disappoint the enemy. The time of test is just
upon us, for the loud cry of the third angel has already begun in the
revelation of the righteousness of Christ, the sin-pardoning
Redeemer. This is the beginning of the light of the angel whose glory
shall fill the whole earth. For it is the work of every one to whom the
message of warning has come, to lift up Jesus, to present him to the
world as revealed in types, as shadowed in symbols, as manifested
in the revelations of the prophets, as unveiled in the lessons given to
his disciples and in the wonderful miracles wrought for the sons of
men. Search the Scriptures; for they are they that testify of him.

85. Revisiting Daniel 2:32, 3:1
Song of Songs Chapter 5 and 1888
5:1-6: I am come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have
gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb
with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O
friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved. I sleep, but my
heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying,
Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my
head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night. I
have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my
feet; how shall I defile them? My beloved put in his hand by the
hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him. I rose up to
open to my beloved; and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my
fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock. I
opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself,
and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I
could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

1888 was not a disappointment for the church
actually but for Christ, Song of Songs 5, went back
into darkness
Song of Songs 5:2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is
the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open
to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled:
for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the
drops of the night.
87. If every soldier of Christ had done his duty, if every watchman on the walls of
Zion had given the trumpet a certain sound, the world might ere this have
heard the message of warning. But the work is years behind. What account will
be rendered to God for thus retarding the work? Testimonies, vol. 9, p. 29.
(1909) {GCDB, February 28, 1893 par. 5}
This testimony was given in the fall of 1890, on the 3rd of November. Two
years from that takes us back to the fall of 1888 in the month of November,
and that was at Minneapolis at the very time when this thing was done. There
are a half a dozen brethren in this house, yes, perhaps a dozen of them, who,
at another time, after Minneapolis, in an institute, heard the Spirit of God
reprove and rebuke in open words that Minneapolis spirit that was in that
Institute where we were and said plainly it was "the spirit of Satan." That was
the next spring after Minneapolis had passed. {February 7, 1893 ATJ, GCDB
184.1}
“If the people of God had gone to work as they should have gone to work right
after the Minneapolis meeting in 1888, the world could have been warned in
two years, and the Lord would have come” S. N. Haskell, “Bible Study: The
Third Angel’s Message,” Australasian Union Conference Recorder, Special No. 4,
July 17, 1899, 9, 10.
88. In consideration of the shortness of time we as a people
should watch and pray, and in no case allow ourselves to be
diverted from the solemn work of preparation for the great
event before us. Because the time is apparently extended,
many have become careless and indifferent in regard to
their words and actions. They do not realize their danger
and do not see and understand the mercy of our God in
lengthening their probation, that they may have time to
form characters for the future, immortal life. Every moment
is of the highest value. Time is granted them, not to be
employed in studying their own ease and becoming
dwellers on the earth, but to be used in the work of
overcoming every defect in their own characters and in
helping others, by example and personal effort, to see the
beauty of holiness. God has a people upon the earth who in
faith and holy hope are tracing down the roll of fast-
fulfilling prophecy and are seeking to purify their souls by
obeying the truth, that they may not be found without the
wedding garment when Christ shall appear. {4T 306.3}
89. For six thousand years, Satan's work of rebellion has "made the
earth to tremble." He had "made the world as a wilderness, and
destroyed the cities thereof." And he "opened not the house of his
prisoners." For six thousand years his prison house has received
God's people, and he would have held them captive forever; but
Christ had broken his bonds and set the prisoners free. {GC 659.3}
Even the wicked are now placed beyond the power of Satan, and
alone with his evil angels he remains to realize the effect of the
curse which sin has brought. "The kings of the nations, even all of
them, lie in glory, everyone in his own house [the grave]. But thou
art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch. . . . Thou shalt
not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy
land, and slain thy people." Isaiah 14:18-20. {GC 660.1} For a
thousand years, Satan will wander to and fro in the desolate earth to
behold the results of his rebellion against the law of God. During this
time his sufferings are intense. Since his fall his life of unceasing
activity has banished reflection; but he is now deprived of his power
and left to contemplate the part which he has acted since first he
rebelled against the government of heaven, and to look forward with
trembling and terror to the dreadful future when he must suffer for
all the evil that he has done and be punished for the sins that he has
caused to be committed. {GC 660.2}

CRY IN 1888 BRINGS US TO 2008. THE YEAR OF
FINANCIAL COLLAPSE USHERING IN THE 4TH
GENERATION. THE FINANCIAL COLLAPSE
ACCOMPANIED WITH STRIKES AND
REVOLUTIONS ACCORDING TO JAMES 5 IS AN
INDICATOR OF LOUD CRY AND SECOND
COMING, NOTICE: -
94. James 5:1: Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your
miseries that shall come upon you. 2: Your riches are
corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. 3: Your gold
and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness
against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have
heaped treasure together for the LAST DAYS. 4: Behold, the
hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which
is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them
which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of
sabaoth. 5: Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been
wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of
slaughter. 6: Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he
doth not resist you. 7: Be patient therefore, brethren, UNTO
THE COMING OF THE LORD. Behold, the husbandman waiteth
for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for
it, until he receive the EARLY AND LATTER RAIN. 8: Be ye also
patient; stablish your hearts: for the COMING OF THE LORD
DRAWETH NIGH. 9: Grudge not one against another, brethren,
lest ye be condemned: behold, THE JUDGE STANDETH BEFORE
THE DOOR.
95. The Last Crisis
We are living in the time of the end. The fast-fulfilling signs of the
times declare that the COMING OF CHRIST IS NEAR AT HAND. The
days in which we live are solemn and important. The Spirit of God is
gradually but surely being withdrawn from the earth. Plagues and
judgments are already falling upon the despisers of the grace of
God. The calamities by land and sea, the unsettled state of society,
the alarms of war, are portentous. They forecast approaching events
of the greatest magnitude. {9T 11.1} THE AGENCIES OF EVIL ARE
COMBINING THEIR FORCES AND CONSOLIDATING. They are
strengthening for the last great crisis. Great changes are soon to
take place in our world, and the FINAL MOVEMENTS WILL BE RAPID
ONES. {9T 11.2} The condition of things in the world shows that
troublous times are right upon us. The daily papers are full of
indications of a terrible conflict in the near future. Bold robberies are
of frequent occurrence. STRIKES ARE COMMON. Thefts and murders
are committed on every hand. Men possessed of demons are taking
the lives of men, women, and little children. Men have become
infatuated with vice, and every species of evil prevails. {9T 11.3}
96. Genesis 15:15, 16: 15; And thou shalt go to thy fathers
in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. 16:
But in the fourth generation they shall come hither
again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
2 Kings 30: And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because
thou hast done well in executing that which is right in
mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab
according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of
the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.
2 Kings 12: This was the word of the LORD which he
spake unto Jehu, saying, Thy sons shall sit on the
throne of Israel unto the fourth generation. And so it
came to pass.
97. Of the Amorites the Lord said: "In the fourth generation they
shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not
yet full." Although this nation was conspicuous because of its
idolatry and corruption, it had not yet filled up the cup of its
iniquity, and God would not give command for its utter
destruction. The people were to see the divine power manifested
in a marked manner, that they might be left without excuse. The
compassionate Creator was willing to bear with their iniquity
until the fourth generation. Then, if no change was seen for the
better, His judgments were to fall upon them. {5T 208.1}
98. Matthew 4:34: Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things
be fulfilled.
It is then in this forth generation 2008-2048 that Christ is coming and the faithful shall
sit on the throne.
Revelation 1:6: And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be
glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
But we are not going to reach 2048:
Matthew 24:22: And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be
saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Romans 9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a
short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
We cannot give year, day or hour but
Matthew 24:32: Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and
putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33: So likewise ye, when ye shall
see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
99.
100. The perils of the last days are upon
us, and in our work we are to warn
the people of the danger they are in.
Let not the solemn scenes which
prophecy has revealed, be left
untouched. If our people were half
awake, if they realized the nearness
of the events portrayed in the
Revelation, a reformation would be
wrought in our churches, and many
more would believe the message.
{Ev 195.1}
101. Just as long as God has a church, he will have those who will cry
aloud and spare not, who will be his instruments to reprove
selfishness and sins, and will not shun to declare the whole
counsel of God, whether men will hear or forbear. I saw that
individuals would rise up against the plain testimonies. It does not
suit their natural feelings. They would choose to have smooth
things spoken unto them, and have peace cried in their ears. I
view the church in a more dangerous condition than they ever
have been. Experimental religion is known but by a few. The
shaking must soon take place to purify the church. {2SG 284.1}
Preachers should have no scruples to preach the truth as it is
found in God's word. Let the truth cut. I have been shown that
why ministers have not more success is, they are afraid of hurting
feelings, fearful of not being courteous, and they lower the
standard of truth, and conceal if possible the peculiarity of our
faith. I saw that God could not make such successful. The truth
must be made pointed, and the necessity of a decision urged. And
as false shepherds are crying, Peace, and are preaching smooth
things, the servants of God must cry aloud, and spare not, and
leave the result with God. {2SG 284.2}
102. Finally my brethren: Owe no man any thing, but to love one
another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For
this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou
shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not
covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly
comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour:
therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. And that, knowing the
time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is
our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far
spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of
darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk
honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in
chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put
ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh,
to fulfil the lusts thereof. Rom 13:8-14
