News plays an important role in politics by informing citizens of debates and elections, though some information is kept secret to avoid revealing weaknesses to US enemies.

Have you ever heard of government protecting aliens? Well
that is partly true, the government protects the things that the
public can’t handle. One way to control the flow of information
is to censor it. This means the citizen is informed of certain
facts, but the sensitive pieces of information is left out. News
keeps the citizens aware of what they need to know.
