HYMN OF ENTRY TIS 107 Sing praise and thanksgiving let all creatures living .
Sing praise and thanksgiving, let all creatures living now worship their maker with gladness and song; all glory and honour we come to him bringing: O praise to the Almighty, sing praise to our God!
Our lives of his making he brings to their waking; in darkness he held us in his gracious care, now into the light we are called from our sleeping: O praise to the Almighty, sing praise to our God!
Lord, frame our desiring to do your requiring, that unto your glory be all that we do; and where we have faltered, give strength and give healing: O praise to the Almighty, sing praise to our God!

CALL TO WORSHIP The Lord be with you and also with you Where have you come from? We have come from our homes in the community round about.
What did you bring with you? We bring love for our neighbours. We bring joys, we also bring cares and sorrows.
Why have you come? We have come to meet with one another and to share our joys, our cares and our sorrows with each other and with God. We have come to worship God.
Then let us worship God together for God is a spirit and those who come to worship, must come in spirit so that we may be enriched as Gods spirit communicates with our spirit.

HYMN 133 O worship the King all glorious above Copyright © HarperCollins Religious , 2000. Used by permission. Robert Grant 1779 1838 alt. based on Psalm 104 and Psalm 18 LicenSing #A1205
O worship the King all-glorious above, O gratefully sing his power and his love: our shield and defender, the ancient of days, pavilioned in splendour, and girded with praise.
O tell of his might, O sing of his grace, whose robe is the light, whose canopy space; his chariots of wrath the deep thunder-clouds form, and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.
The earth with its store of wonders untold, Almighty, your power has founded of old, established it fast by a changeless decree, and round it has cast, like a mantle, the sea.
Your bountiful care what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light, it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, and sweetly distils in the dew and the rain.
Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, in you do we trust, nor find you to fail: your mercies how tender, how firm to the end, our maker, defender, redeemer and friend.
O measureless might, ineffable love, while angels delight to hymn you above, the humbler creation, though faltering their praise, with true adoration shall sing all their days.

Prayer
RESPONSIVE PRAYER Lord God, early in the morning when the world was young, You made life in all its beauty, You gave birth to all that we know. Hallowed be your name.
Early in the morning, When the world least expected it, a new born child crying in a cradle announced that you had come among us that you were one with us Hallowed be thy name
Early in the morning in the multicoloured company of your church on earth and in heaven, we celebrate your creation, Your life, Your death and resurrection, Your interest in us. Thanks be to God. Amen. © Wild Goose Publications

RESPONSIVE PSALM 145: 1 - 6, 10 -13 I will extol thee, O God my king And bless thy name forever Every day will I bless thee And praise thy name for ever
Great is the Lord and worthy of all praise. His greatness is unfathomable. One generation shall commend thy works to another and set forth thy mighty deeds
My theme shall be thy marvellous works The glorious splendour of your majesty People shall declare thy mighty acts with awe and tell of thy great deeds
All thy creatures praise thee, Lord. and thy servants bless thee. They talk of the glory of thy kingdom and tell of thy might.
They proclaim to their fellows how mighty are thy deeds How glorious the majesty of thy kingdom Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom And thy dominion stands for all generations.

HYMN 653 This is a day of new beginnings . Words: Brian Wren Used by permission LicenSing #A1205 Copyright © HarperCollins Religious , 2000..
This is a day of new beginnings, time to remember, and move on, time to believe what love is bringing, laying to rest the pain that's gone.
For by the life and death of Jesus, God's mighty Spirit, now as then, can make for us a world of difference as faith and hope are born again.
Then let us, with the Spirit's daring, step from the past, and leave behind our disappointment, guilt and grieving, seeking new paths, and sure to find.
Christ is alive, and goes before us to show and share what love can do. This is a day of new beginnings; our God is making all things new.

Christian Scriptures Reading Luke 7: 36 - 50
Jesus at the Home of Simon the Pharisee 36 A Pharisee invited Jesus to have dinner with him, and Jesus went to his house and sat down to eat.
37 In that town was a woman who lived a sinful life. She heard that Jesus was eating in the Pharisee's house, so she brought an alabaster jar full of perfume.
38 and stood behind Jesus, by his feet, crying and wetting his feet with her tears. Then she dried his feet with her hair, kissed them, and poured the perfume on them.
39 When the Pharisee saw this, he said to himself, “ If this man really were a prophet, he would know who this woman is who is touching him; he would know what kind of sinful life she lives!”
40 Jesus spoke up and said to him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “ Yes, Teacher,” he said, “tell me.” 41 “There were two men who owed money to a moneylender,” Jesus began. “One owed him five hundred silver coins, and the other owed him fifty.
42 Neither of them could pay him back, so he cancelled the debts of both. Which one, then, will love him more?” 43 “I suppose,” answered Simon, “ that it would be the one who was forgiven more.” “ You are right,” said Jesus.
44 Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “ Do you see this woman? I came into your home, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has washed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.
45 You did not welcome me with a kiss, but she has not stopped kissing my feet since I came. 46 You provided no olive oil for my head, but she has covered my feet with perfume.
47 I tell you, then, the great love she has shown proves that her many sins have been forgiven. But whoever has been forgiven little shows only a little love.” 48 Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49 The others sitting at the table began to say to themselves, “ Who is this, who even forgives sins?” 50 But Jesus said to the woman, “ Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Hymn 235 A man there lived in Galilee Copyright © HarperCollins Religious , 2000. Used by permission. Somerset Corry Lowry 1855 1932 alt .LicenSing #A1205
A man there lived in Galilee like no one else before, for he alone from first to last our flesh unsullied wore; a perfect life of perfect deeds once to the world was shown, that everyone might mark his steps and in them place their own.
A man there died on Calvary, above all others brave; he gave to all, he saved and blessed, himself he scorned to save; no thought can gauge the weight of woe on him, the sinless, laid; we only know that with his death our ransom price was paid.
A man there stands at God's right hand, divine, yet human still; that grand, heroic, peerless soul death sought in vain to kill. All power is his: supreme he rules all realms of time and space; yet still our human cares and needs find in his heart a place.

Hymn 220 This, this is the God we adore. Copyright © HarperCollins Religious , 2000. Used by permission. Joseph Hart 1712 68 alt . LicenSing #A1205
This, this is the God we adore; our faithful, unchangeable friend; whose love is as great as his power, and neither knows measure nor end.
'Tis Jesus the first and the last whose Spirit shall guide us safe home; we'll praise him for all that is past, and trust him for all that's to come.

Hymn 687 God gives us a future Used by permission. Words © E. J. Smith Copyright © HarperCollins Religious , 2000. LicenSing #A1205
God gives us a future, daring us to go into dreams and dangers on a path unknown. We will face tomorrow in the Spirit's power, we will let God change us, for new life starts now.
We must leave behind us sins of yesterday, for God's new beginning is a better way. Fear and doubt and habit must not hold us back: God gives hope, and insight, and the strength we lack.
Holy Spirit, teach us how to read the signs, how to meet the challenge of our troubled times. Love us into action, stir us into prayer, till we choose God's life, and find our future there.

Sending Forth May the blessing of God go before you. May grace and peace abound. May the Spirit live within you. May love wrap you round.
May the blessing remain with you always For you walk on HOLY ground. AMEN, ALLELUIA, AMEN

  • 15. The earth with its store of wonders untold, Almighty, your power has founded of old, established it fast by a changeless decree, and round it has cast, like a mantle, the sea.
  • 16. Your bountiful care what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light, it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, and sweetly distils in the dew and the rain.
  • 17. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, in you do we trust, nor find you to fail: your mercies how tender, how firm to the end, our maker, defender, redeemer and friend.
  • 18. O measureless might, ineffable love, while angels delight to hymn you above, the humbler creation, though faltering their praise, with true adoration shall sing all their days.

  • 34. This is a day of new beginnings, time to remember, and move on, time to believe what love is bringing, laying to rest the pain that's gone.
  • 35. For by the life and death of Jesus, God's mighty Spirit, now as then, can make for us a world of difference as faith and hope are born again.
  • 36. Then let us, with the Spirit's daring, step from the past, and leave behind our disappointment, guilt and grieving, seeking new paths, and sure to find.
  • 37. Christ is alive, and goes before us to show and share what love can do. This is a day of new beginnings; our God is making all things new.

  • 39. Christian Scriptures Reading Luke 7: 36 - 50
  • 40. Jesus at the Home of Simon the Pharisee 36 A Pharisee invited Jesus to have dinner with him, and Jesus went to his house and sat down to eat.
  • 41. 37 In that town was a woman who lived a sinful life. She heard that Jesus was eating in the Pharisee's house, so she brought an alabaster jar full of perfume.
  • 42. 38 and stood behind Jesus, by his feet, crying and wetting his feet with her tears. Then she dried his feet with her hair, kissed them, and poured the perfume on them.
  • 43. 39 When the Pharisee saw this, he said to himself, “ If this man really were a prophet, he would know who this woman is who is touching him; he would know what kind of sinful life she lives!”
  • 44. 40 Jesus spoke up and said to him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “ Yes, Teacher,” he said, “tell me.” 41 “There were two men who owed money to a moneylender,” Jesus began. “One owed him five hundred silver coins, and the other owed him fifty.
  • 45. 42 Neither of them could pay him back, so he cancelled the debts of both. Which one, then, will love him more?” 43 “I suppose,” answered Simon, “ that it would be the one who was forgiven more.” “ You are right,” said Jesus.
  • 46. 44 Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “ Do you see this woman? I came into your home, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has washed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.
  • 47. 45 You did not welcome me with a kiss, but she has not stopped kissing my feet since I came. 46 You provided no olive oil for my head, but she has covered my feet with perfume.
  • 48. 47 I tell you, then, the great love she has shown proves that her many sins have been forgiven. But whoever has been forgiven little shows only a little love.” 48 Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”
  • 49. 49 The others sitting at the table began to say to themselves, “ Who is this, who even forgives sins?” 50 But Jesus said to the woman, “ Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

  • 51. Hymn 235 A man there lived in Galilee Copyright © HarperCollins Religious , 2000. Used by permission. Somerset Corry Lowry 1855 1932 alt .LicenSing #A1205
  • 52. A man there lived in Galilee like no one else before, for he alone from first to last our flesh unsullied wore; a perfect life of perfect deeds once to the world was shown, that everyone might mark his steps and in them place their own.
  • 53. A man there died on Calvary, above all others brave; he gave to all, he saved and blessed, himself he scorned to save; no thought can gauge the weight of woe on him, the sinless, laid; we only know that with his death our ransom price was paid.
  • 54. A man there stands at God's right hand, divine, yet human still; that grand, heroic, peerless soul death sought in vain to kill. All power is his: supreme he rules all realms of time and space; yet still our human cares and needs find in his heart a place.
