- Futures Group is an independent, privately owned global health organization founded in 1971 and headquartered in Washington, DC. It has 467 staff working in over 30 countries.
- It has developed a suite of open-source health IT solutions called IQSolutions, including an electronic medical record called IQCare, to support health programs in developing countries lacking reliable technology infrastructure.
- The health informatics team consists of 25 local programmers across offices in Kenya, South Africa, and India who design and develop the tools using freely available, reusable components that can function offline or with intermittent connectivity.
The Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers works to improve health outcomes for residents of Camden, NJ. It does so by collecting and analyzing local healthcare data to better understand high-cost patients and their needs. This allows the Coalition to develop targeted interventions and care management programs. Analysis of claims data reveals patterns of emergency department and inpatient use. The Coalition also works to integrate this data into customized tools to coordinate care for high-need individuals and measure the impact of its programs.
This document summarizes discussions from the Health 2.0 2017 Annual Conference. Speakers discussed trends in digital health investing, with topics including wearables, VR, artificial intelligence, and FDA pre-certification. They noted the hype cycle for emerging technologies and said digital health will likely follow suit, with initial excitement preceding longer-than-expected adoption timelines. However, digital health was said to eventually become a larger field than anticipated. The summary emphasizes this is a critical time for increasing healthcare system value and anticipates more M&A and investment activity.
BioBehavioral Diagnostics Takes Mystery Out Of ADHDTSAI05
BioBehavioral Diagnostics has created a software system called the Quotient ADHD system to help doctors objectively diagnose ADHD. The system uses infrared sensors to track patients' movements during a 15-20 minute test measuring inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. The company is raising $8-10 million for a national rollout of the FDA-approved system. Psychologists who have started using the system say it provides objective data to help people understand if they have ADHD and is an important diagnostic tool.

The pharmaceutical industry is facing significant changes driven by new technologies, regulations, and market conditions. Healthcare is shifting from reactive treatment to preventative and personalized medicine based on DNA analysis. This transformation requires new business models, training representatives to engage with medical professionals demanding practical tools and education to help patients. The future may include intelligent medical devices, packaging, and treatments adjusted based on effectiveness monitoring. Pharmaceutical companies must adapt rapidly through new ideas and transformational change to succeed in this evolving environment.
Henry wei blue button overview top coder event 12-3-2012www_TopCoder_com
This document summarizes efforts to promote the adoption of Blue Button, a standard for patients to access their health information electronically. It discusses how:
1) Blue Button enables industry-wide data exchange in a simple, efficient format. The VA and OPM have initiatives to increase Blue Button adoption.
2) The VA Innovation Center is investing over $100 million through prize challenges and fellowships to drive up private sector adoption and enhance Blue Button functionality.

The document discusses emerging trends and innovations that are driving healthcare transformation in Canada. It identifies the top 10 healthcare game changers, including: 1) Healthcare clouds that will take health records off mainframes and make them accessible online; 2) Health analytics that will use more available data to improve decision making and care; 3) New payment models that will tie funding to quality and outcomes rather than just outputs.
Insight Driven Health identifies 10 emerging healthcare trends in Canada:
1. Healthcare clouds will facilitate secure sharing of electronic health records across organizations.
2. Health analytics will use growing data to drive more informed decisions and higher quality, lower cost care.
3. Payment models will increasingly be tied to quality and outcomes rather than volume of services.
4. Tablet computers will play a critical role in adoption of technologies like electronic medical records.
5. Mobile health apps will empower consumers and change behaviors while enabling new clinical management.
The document discusses a mobile app called Mirror MD that aims to reduce hospital readmission rates and costs. Mirror MD allows patients to self-report data to psychiatrists between appointments through a web-based dashboard. It also enables psychiatrists and their staff to view patient data and respond before meetings. Experts in the field believe such an app that empowers proactive patients could improve care quality while lowering costs.

likely to have significant use in the elderly, either because the disease intended

PGx Analysis in VarSeq: A User’s PerspectiveGolden Helix
Since our release of the PGx capabilities in VarSeq, we’ve had a few months to gather some insights from various use cases. Some users approach PGx workflows by means of array genotyping or what seems to be a growing trend of adding the star allele calling to the existing NGS pipeline for whole genome data. Luckily, both approaches are supported with the VarSeq software platform. The genotyping method being used will also dictate what the scope of the tertiary analysis will be. For example, are your PGx reports a standalone pipeline or would your lab’s goal be to handle a dual-purpose workflow and report on PGx + Diagnostic findings.
The purpose of this webcast is to:
Discuss and demonstrate the approaches with array and NGS genotyping methods for star allele calling to prep for downstream analysis.
Following genotyping, explore alternative tertiary workflow concepts in VarSeq to handle PGx reporting.
Moreover, we will include insights users will need to consider when validating their PGx workflow for all possible star alleles and options you have for automating your PGx analysis for large number of samples. Please join us for a session dedicated to the application of star allele genotyping and subsequent PGx workflows in our VarSeq software.

The biomechanics of running involves the study of the mechanical principles underlying running movements. It includes the analysis of the running gait cycle, which consists of the stance phase (foot contact to push-off) and the swing phase (foot lift-off to next contact). Key aspects include kinematics (joint angles and movements, stride length and frequency) and kinetics (forces involved in running, including ground reaction and muscle forces). Understanding these factors helps in improving running performance, optimizing technique, and preventing injuries.
