The study examined how atmospheric elements like style, layout, colors, lighting and furnishings influence customer impressions of hotel lobbies. A literature review identified relevant factors and hypotheses. An online survey with photos of lobbies was given to 105 participants. Data analysis found style, colors and lighting significantly impacted lobby impressions, while layout did not. Colors had the strongest effect, suggesting hotels should carefully select lobby colors. The study was limited to lobbies and business hotels. Further research on less studied atmospheric elements was recommended.
