This study analyzed the risk of a first serious asthma-related event and the risk of a first asthma exacerbation using time-to-event analysis methods. The researchers found that the risk of a first serious asthma-related event was highest in the first year after asthma diagnosis and declined over time, while the risk of a first asthma exacerbation remained relatively constant over the first 5 years after diagnosis.
