Java was created by James Gosling and his team at Sun Microsystems in 1991. It was originally designed for television but later shifted focus to use on the Internet when released in 1996. Java applications are compiled to bytecode that can run on any Java Virtual Machine, making code portable across platforms. Key features of Java include its simplicity, object-oriented design, security, and ability to write code once and run it anywhere. It differs from C/C++ in its removal of pointers and inclusion of automatic memory management through garbage collection.

Java was created in 1991 by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems to develop technology for smart appliances. It was designed with principles of being portable, high-performance, robust and secure. After initial work under the name Oak, it was renamed Java and released in 1995 with a web browser called HotJava. Java was well received by developers for its "write once, run anywhere" capabilities allowing software to run on any system. Its strengths include automatic garbage collection, static and verbose code making it easy to read and maintain, and portability across platforms.
Java originated as a programming language created in 1991 by James Gosling and his team at Sun Microsystems for interactive television applications. It evolved to become a popular language for internet programming due to its portability and platform independence. The name "Java" was chosen in 1995 to replace the earlier name "Oak" after Sun Microsystems acquired the Java trademark. Java has continued to evolve over time with new versions adding features and capabilities, and has had significant influence on other languages like C#.
The document provides an overview of Java including its history, naming, versions, uses and types of applications. It notes that Java was originally developed by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems in 1991 under the name "Oak" and was later renamed to "Java". The document also lists the major Java versions released and where Java is commonly used today such as in desktop applications, web applications, enterprise applications and mobile applications.

The document discusses different types of relationships that can be created in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, including one-to-many, many-to-one, many-to-many, and self-referential relationships. Entity relationships determine how information is connected between two entities and allow customization of how data relates. One-to-many relationships connect one main entity instance to many related entity instances, while many-to-one relationships connect many main entity instances to one related entity instance. Many-to-many relationships allow entities to connect to multiple entities in both directions. Self-referential relationships allow an entity to relate to itself.
Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

2. ABOUT JAVA
• Java, lifelong programming language, remains enormously
popular and for some, great reasons. Truth be told, many
software developers swear by the dependability of Java.
Java is the go-to language for many programming
developers. Java developed as a tech juggernaut in view of
its interesting movability and its capacity of working
comparatively on any equipment or operating system.
• It's protected, basic and powerful, so because of these
attractive qualities in mind, here are a few facts about Java
which you most likely did not know.
3. JAVA WAS CALLED OAK
• Unique name for Java was Oak. Java legend has it that a major
oak tree that became outside the developer James Gosling's
window. It was initially changed to Java by Sun's marketing
department when Sun legal advisors found that there was at
that point a computer company registered as Oak.
• Alternative legend has it that Gosling and his group of
programmers went out to the nearby cafe to talk about names
and ended up naming it Java. There is by all accounts some
fact in this as the "0xCafeBabe" enchantment magic number in
the class records was named after the Cafe where the Java
group used to go for coffee.
James Gosling's
4. JAVA WAS DEVELOPED BY CHANCE
• James Gosling was working at Sun Labs, around 1992. Gosling and his group was
building a set-top box and began by "cleaning up" C++ and ended up with another
dialect and runtime. Along these lines Java or Oak appeared.
PAYS TO LEARN JAVA
• The middle pay of a Java developer is $80,000.00.
Yes, it pays to be a Java developer and programmers
are draining it. There are around 9 million Java
engineers on the world.
