The poem expresses that humans are not designed to be independent or self-sufficient, but are meant to rely fully on God. It lists many things people tend to rely on instead of God, such as their own wisdom, desires, possessions, and judgment. The reflection emphasizes that living outside of our intended design as beings dependent on God leads to negative consequences, while aligning our lives and hearts with our purpose of relying on God brings positive effects.
Here are the notes from my sermon on July 8, 2018. We looked at why we should make Jesus known and how we can do that. In the last part of the sermon, I focused on how we can share our testimony.
This document provides guidance on how to share one's Christian testimony. It discusses why sharing a testimony is important, including because Jesus commanded it and it is an effective way to glorify God and share the gospel. It then offers an outline for constructing a testimony, including sections on one's life before committing to Jesus, how they came to faith, and how their life has changed since following Jesus. The document concludes by providing best practices for sharing a testimony, such as keeping it focused on Jesus, being humble, and practicing delivery.
The document discusses what the gospel is and why it is important. It defines the gospel as the good news that Jesus rescues people from sin and its consequences through his life, death, and resurrection. This salvation involves justification, sanctification, and glorification. The gospel is God's power to save all who believe in Jesus as the Son of God. False gospels focus on other things besides Jesus or contradict the Bible. The true gospel centers on Jesus and is foundational to Christianity.
The document discusses following one's heart with opposing views presented. It suggests following your heart will be fine, while also noting the heart can be deceitful and difficult to understand according to a Bible verse. The short document presents two contrasting perspectives on following one's heart without making a clear recommendation.
This is a combination of the Bible verses I shared plus a handout I put together that I gave out after the speech at the meeting before Christmas at our Toastmaster club. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rydkt1VuZrQ

Jesus conquered Satan's reign over the world through his supernatural birth, sinless life, sacrificial death, and glorious resurrection. By his resurrection, Jesus confirmed he was the Son of God and had overcome sin, death, and hell, restoring God's reign over creation and allowing rebellious people to be reconciled to God. We must believe this good news, turn from rebellion to God, trust in Jesus as our king, and follow and obey him.

The Gospel is Not Advice for Self-Improvement (A4)William Anderson
The gospel is not about self-improvement, but rather is a declaration that Jesus is King and that people are in rebellion against God. Though people deserve hell for their sins, Jesus reconciled people to God through his sinless life, death, and resurrection. Not only can people be saved from hell, but they can become part of God's family forever. To be reconciled to God, one must confess their sins and rebellion against God, trust that Jesus took their sins and gave his righteousness, and surrender their life to follow and obey Jesus as their King. By doing this, one can experience the full life that God intended both now and forever.
