Facebook launched a new reading app called "Reading-Lab" in September 2009, one year after acquiring the startup. The app aimed to help users improve reading speed and comprehension by tracking how long they spent reading articles and how much they understood. It was developed by Takeshi Kato, a Facebook employee based in Tokyo.
