On-board diagnostics (OBD) refers to a vehicle's self-diagnostic and reporting capability. Modern OBD systems can detect malfunctions related to fuel, emissions, or other components. When a problem is detected, the OBD system will illuminate a malfunction indicator light and store important diagnostic trouble codes making repairs easier.
