Technology first arrived in the author's home 17 years ago with their mother's computer for work. As technology advanced, the author's parents were able to upgrade their computer and their mother learned to program it, use the internet, and programs like Word and PowerPoint. While their mother adapted well to technology, their father only recently started using computers and finds it difficult, though he can send text messages. The author also finds new technology relatively easy to learn as someone born into a digital world.

1. How do new technologies make your life different from your parents’
(at a personal and at a professional level)? How do you feel about this?
Technology has arrived to my home about seventeen year ago, when I was only 6 years old.
The reason was that my mother needed a computer for her job. so there it was, a “commodore”
at home. It didn´t have a clock where to see the time! So, my mom have learnt to programme it.
As the time went by and technology grew my parents were able to renew the computer we had
and my mother learnt many things.
Some times mom asked me or my sisters to help her with, but most of time she can manage
herself. She can serf the internet, she types grate, she uses word, power point, excel.
With what she have some problems is using facebook. except for this she take along very well
with technology. Even whit her cell she can manage very well.
My father is another case, he started using a computer just a few year ago because my family
and I encourage him to do it. It wasn´t an easy thing to do, he doesn´t understand many thing
and the few he understands he forgets them. It really hard work!
What he can do is to send text messages whit his cellphone, what is quite a good thing!
In my case I found technology not very difficult, although there are things I don´t know yet and I
hope to learn.
I think that for the young people it is easier to learn how to use new divice,l because we were
born and technology were there already and for this reason we feel more confidence to use
things that may be it is the first time we touch.
