3. Length of alimentary tract = 8 meter
Length of cadaver(after death) = 1+8
= 9 meter
[PROCESS OF DIGESTION]
INGESTION = Process of taking food into mouth
SECRETION = Per day secretion of digestive juice (7 L)
PROPULSION = Also known as peristalsis movement
( Rhythmic contraction and relaxation of smooth muscle)
4. DIAGESTION = Mechanical and chemical
ABSORPTION = When cell use the smallest food particle
EXCRETION = Waste product of digestive process
5. LAYERS OF DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
• Mucosa = Inner most layer
• Sub mucosa = Meissner plexus ( help in secretion)
• Muscularis = Myenteric / Auerbach’s plexus ( GI motility)
• Serosa / Adventitia = Outer most layer
