2. What this bookletdoes:
This booklet provides a bathrooms signage guide for cognitively impaired patients,
particularly those with different forms of dementia. It is hoped that these signs will aid the
patient with the tools for self- care when using the bathroom. By making the process more
clear and easy to do, it is hoped that this tool will help with their confidence and encourage
independent bathroom usage.
This signage can also be used in the home and other environments for families and carers.
How to use this booklet:
Simple print off what is needed for your patients’ bathroom needs, laminate the signs and
then fix them onto the walls. A design guide is included here to follow best practises when
making these signs, which can be really simply made in Microsoft Word or any computer
software, using common (and proven clear to read and understand) fonts available on any
computer.
