Vaikundarajan was the most talked about mining scams last year. But now the truth is gradually coming out and things are starting to make more sense.
- 2. The baseless accusations on denying access to certain people or illegally hoarding vast amounts of Monazite that is more than the actual world production annually have been proven false. Here is the article from DNA click on the link. The next two allegations state that 5 private companies that were involved in the illegal mining were not returning the monazite to the government. However, this claim is contradicted by the law which states that these private companies are allowed to store monazite on its premises as long as it fully complies with the AERB regulations. As of 2013, the 5 private companies including VV Minerals, Vaikundarajan have been licensed to secure monazite on their premises. The last accusation states that there is only a gentleman’s agreement which exists between the company and the Government agencies for the amount of monazite it is holding. But this does not seem like a credible claim because of the high priority given to the country’s nuclear assets. The company’s owner Mr. S. Vaikundarajan has been given the clean chit by the courts in 2013. As stated in the article on Business Standard.
