Design of a Dual Port Integrated Antenna for Cognitive Radio
Applications

This project presents an Ultra Wideband (UWB) fractal antenna and a frequency reconfigurable antenna
integrated on a single FR4 substrate for cognitive radio applications. This antenna design integrates
several communication standards into a single system such as Wi-Fi, mobile WiMAX and WLAN. The
antenna shall be designed in ANSYS HFSS 15.

The proposed antenna in this project is a fractal monopole antenna for the application in the UWB
Frequency range (3.1 GHz-10.6 GHz). Simulation is done using Ansys HFSS 15. The presented antenna
has a good gain, high efficiency and an Omni directional radiation pattern. This antenna can be used in
"see-through-the-wall" precision radar-imaging technology, precision locating and tracking.

 Presented an IEEE conference paper on “Design of a Dual Port Integrated Antenna for
Cognitive Radio Applications” at ICMOCE-2015, IIT Bhubaneswar.
 Attended a short term course on “Design and Simulation of Antennas & Microwave Devices” at
NIT, Rourkela from June 03-10, 2015.
