Underwriter Responsibility:
Review long haul trucking accounts. Review new business submissions for eligibility of
coverage based on company guidelines. Rate, new business according to co. guidelines.
Includes rating within appropriate territory, zone, radius, and experience of risk.
Evaluate loss runs, mileage reports, motor carrier and or dot regulations. Offer
proposal to agent. Proposal offer initial 24 hr of receipt of submission for
inexperienced or new starting accounts. Proposal offered to established risk within 30
days of due date.
- Correspond with agents for changes prior to risk adding units change coverage
amounts, change cargo commodities and or drivers. Approve account for commodities,
drivers and units. Bind per instruction of agent coverage based on proposal released by
Underwriter. Establish type filings needed by risk and submit to filings dept for issuance.
Release policy # for effective date of requested coverage date.
- Decline accounts to agent that does not fit company guidelines.
- Review application for accuracy and correspond with agent any needed items to
complete file for closure and or follow up.
- Endorsement approval for driver/unit/coverage changes within company guidelines.
Assist tech and assistance with risk with needed.
- Work with Retail agents and GA based on each individual agent‘s need.
- Rate renewal, as per established guide for each account, and maintain renewal business
for renewal retention purpose.
- Knowledge of all state cancellation procedures, & time frame to include taking down
filing.
- Order loss control for account of with designated # of unit that require loss control
visit and have knowledge how to read report and discuss with loss control agent for
recommendations and requirement on each risk.
- Knowledge of reports findings and handling files for which reports are gathered for
driver/unit and loss issues. Knowledge of the procedures for these type reports how to
process each account for recommended and correction if needed.
- Know the Company product and familiarize with all coverage details.
