The Snowy Day
Subjects: Reading, Math and
         Geography
      Grade level: 2nd
     Setting: Entire Class
Description:
• As a class we will read The Snowy Day, they will count how
  many times the author says snow and say snow out loud as
  a class. The children will be handed a map, you can use one
  of the state they live in or The United States, they will color
  blue (snow) where they think it snows and yellow (suns)
  where they think it does not.

 Objective:
• Understanding the story.
• Being able to count and listen at the same time.
• Realizing different areas have different weather. (Climates)
Materials:
• The Snowy Day Book
• Printed blank maps (depending on the area, pick
  maps of city, state, or Country)
• Crayons (blue/yellow)
• Pictures either on paper or on projector.
• Maps to point out areas
Preparation:
• Read book if you haven’t already
• Looking up your decided areas with snow
• Finding pictures with and without snow
Procedure:
• Reading the book
• asking them to think about where it snows and where
  they have seen snow
• then read the book asking them to count how many
  times they hear snow
• giving them the map asking them to draw where they
  think it snows and where they think it does not snow.
• Show pictures/maps of places with snow and without
  snow and discuss the reasons
Closing: Making sure your students:
• -Understood the book
• -have the skills to know the different climates
• -And know which areas have which climates.
• Group: Sha-Ni, Bianca, Candice, Maria
