Yogi in simple terms is an entity that is meant for doing good to
mankind. Why I said entity? -Because that person is more than man and less
than God. As per Gita he is messenger of God or mediator between man and
God.
People make serpentine queue to criticize or condemn yogi by taking
example of some bogus swamis and generalize the issue. If we can live like
yogi for at least three days, then we qualify to criticize or condemn a yogi.
First of all let us know what the life style of a yogi is.
A yogi is supposed to stay away from his home (not distance-wise).
He should not have a house of his own. He should not have food of his own.
He should not have his own cloths to wear. That means he should not be
paying rent of the house, he should not buy his food in raw, semi-processed,
processed form. He should not buy cloths. Then how he should live?-From
the donations of others. Is it humanly possible to live on donations of others?
That is the challenge in his life. The life style of a yogi is designed in that
fashion because he should not struggle for basic needs of life, lest his total
concentration will be on procuring basic necessities of life in his lifetime,
just like any ordinary civilian outside.
That is why, once his basic needs are taken care of, his total
concentration should be on doing good to mankind. In today’s life there are
many persons who do not listen to anybody, more especially in nuclear
families. There you need a mentor who helps you to keep your track of life
clean without any hassles or hurdles in developing good personality and in
becoming a good citizen, as your close associates will be proud of you.
