KERRANG?
Kerrang is amusic magazine brand. They publish and distribute weekly magazines
throughout the United Kingdom. From the opening screen it is clear that they
mainly associate with the ROCK genre.
As they are a rock music magazine brand, our POP styled digipak and music
probably wouldn’t appeal to their audience. Making it very hard for them to
advertise our digipak in their magazine very well.

If we wereto work with Kerrang and it be very successful, the popularity of our
digipak would be hugely increased within the UK. However, due to the main genre
of the magazine being rock the likelihood of it being successful is relatively low
compared to if we were to advertise on magazines like Q or We Love Pop (when
they were still publishing).

I personally donot feel Kerrang is suitable for our magazine as they associate with
a completely different genre and linking both genres into one will be very difficult,
even for Kerrang.

Q is avery popular, monthly published magazine based in the United Kingdom. It’s
published is the Bauer Media Group. This magazine publishing brand would be
perfect for our advert as they mainly associate with the POP genre.

As Q ispublished by Bauer Media, I went to the Bauer Media website.. “Q is the
ultimate guide to modern music”. As our target audience is modern this aspect is
vital towards the success of our magazine. Reviews have also said they are very
well respected by other labels and artists, this was also vey important to us.
In addition, Qs popularity would drastically increase our sales as more people
interested in the POP genre will view our advertisement of the digipak.

Finally, from this research we have decided that our advert will appear on Q.
Advertising on their website and magazines would be vital to our success. We have
chosen this magazine company as they associate themselves with POP artists and
also advertise many start up artists. Making Q an ideal brand to advertise on. In
addition, as they are published by Bauer Media, the potential for a huge increase in
popularity is very high (exactly what we need!)

Furthermore, Q’s audience is a combination of modern middle to upper class teens
and adults. Both of our target audiences match almost perfectly. In turn, making
them the best magazine company we could advertise on when it comes to growth
of popularity and targeting our audience.
