Romania is known for three classic dishes: cabbage rolls called "Sarmale" which consist of ground meat and rice rolled in cabbage leaves and served with quark cheese; tripe soup called "Ciorba de burta" made with tripe, vegetables, and beef in a sour cream or garlic sauce; and fried dough with sweet cheese called "Placinta cu branza dulce" which is a filled and sugared pastry dessert.
