God created the earth and heavens before any plants had grown from the ground. At that time, the earth was watered only by underground springs. God then formed man from the dirt and breathed life into him. The Bible references God's gift of water throughout, describing how he provides water from springs, rivers, and pools to sustain life and symbolize salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life for those who believe. Water is freely given to those who are thirsty.
2. At the time God made
Earth and Heaven, before
any grasses or shrubs had
sprouted from the ground
—God hadn't yet sent rain
on Earth, nor was there
anyone around to work the
ground (the whole Earth
was watered by
underground springs)—
God formed Man out of dirt
from the ground and blew
into his nostrils the breath
of life. The Man came alive
—a living soul!
Genesis 2:5
[The Message]
3. I establish my
covenant with you:
Never again will all
life be destroyed by

earth.“
Genesis 9:11

4. I will open rivers in
high places, and
fountains in the

5. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth
my soul after Thee, O God. (Psalms 42:1)
6. So what do we do? Keep on sinning so God can keep on forgiving? I should hope not! If
we've left the country where sin is sovereign, how can we still live in our old house there? Or
didn't you realize we packed up and left there for good? That is what happened in baptism.
When we went under the water, we left the old country of sin behind; when we came up out
of the water, we entered into the new country of grace—a new life in a new land!
Romans 6:1 [The Message]
7. For we will surely die and become like water spilled on the ground, which
cannot be gathered up again. Yet God does not take away a life; but He
devises means, so that His banished ones are not expelled from Him.
Samuel 14:14 [NKJV]
8. Jesus said, "Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again.

John 4:13 [The Message]
9. But whosoever drinketh
of the water that I shall
give him shall never
thirst; but the water that
I shall give him shall be
in him a well of water
springing up into
everlasting life.
John 4:14

who thirsts,
Come to the

who have no

Yes, come, buy
wine and milk
without money
and without price.

of the
water of
life freely.
(Revelation 21:6)

Perfect, yet it groweth
Deeper all the way.
Stayed upon Christ Jesus,
Hearts are fully blest;
Finding, as He promised,
Perfect peace and rest
