2.  Absorbs wavelengths at optimal ranges ( PS II –
680; PS I – 700)
 Electrons get passed around chlorophyll (Light
Harvesting Center) until it reaches the reaction
center ( PS II - Complex 680; PS I – Complex 700)
 Reaction center spits out its electron (becomes
oxidized) to reduce a NADP+ to become NADPH
 Or FAD+ to FADH
 C3 – RuBisCo used to fix CO2, very inefficient
 C4 – Uses Pep carboxylase to fix CO2, physically
separated CO2 fixation from calvin cycle
 CAM – Separate Carbon fixation from Calvin cycle
by time of day.
