It establish realtionships between theseMedialab-Prado on the Visualizar11: Understanding concepts and global economy and society from 2005 to 2011.Infrastructures, celebratedfrom June 14 to July 1, 2011MercaMadrids importanceas an urban infrastructurecontrasts with its slightvisibility as a physical anddiscursive location in thecity.This project aims to envis-age MercaMadrid and toestablish it as an urbanfocal point where topics ofpublic interest arediscussed.This project aimsto shed some light onMadrid food flows throughvisualization. Using Merca-madrid open data, we planto answer basic questionsabout our consumptionhabits, self-sustainabilityand how food is distributedon a daily basis. Thisproject analyzes too howproduction logics haveevolved in last yearsbecause of changes in oursupply chain, based on ananthropological study nowin progress. We are particu-larly interested in examin-ing how some of thecontroversies which, assemiotic-material constantsin the city´s ecology,circulate through food flowsand contribute to define thepolitical agenda of the city.
