2. Road Construction at night
Day Time
More Traffic
Dangerous Temperatures
extreme heat
Distractions & Delays are
many
Traffic related accidents
injury or death
Cost rise due to delays &
accidents
Night Time
Less Traffic
Cooler in the evening
Distractions are lessened
Job is completed sooner
Less traffic related injuries &
deaths
3. Fatalities in construction and maintenance work
zones average 778 from 1990 through 1994
1060 from
2000
though
2006

6. •“Drivers and passengers account for the majority of road
construction deaths”
(Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) ).
•Risk of death of Highway and Street Construction
workers is
2 to 4 times that of the remainder of the
construction industry
Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI), Bureau of Labor Statistics
There are less cars on the
road between 11pm and 4
am, This would greatly
reduce the chances of driver
related accidents.
7. Elimination of traffic delays and
idling lead to air quality
improvement and lower
fuel consumption.

Standstill traffic is a big contributor to air pollution
8. Working at night when there is less traffic can
greatly effect production. With less cars on
the road there will be less distractions and
delay due to traffic.
Uninterrupted work is completed faster
essentially saving on cost related to payroll,
budgeting & time restraints.
9. Global Movement Against Emissions
Pollution, it is said that the Swiss have passed
a law that people waiting for the red light to
turn green have to turn off their cars.
In short idle cars pollute and to help
reduce the emissions pollution of vehicles,
working on roads at night would help a
great deal.
