2. The pieces of work I will analyse are:
1. The Right to be colourful
2. The Food Cycle
3. Media manipulation
3. The Right to be colourful
WWW
Using the location of a chapel When talking about religion they use images to
when talking about religion show the different type of religion about what they
think of people being gay
Using timeline by going back to the years of how
difficult it was being gay and how things have
progress during the years now
4. The Right to be colourful
WWW
Using charts and statistic to show Using the president clip on his feeling
thoughts on how people were acting towards gay people as using the presidents
differently to gays and how they have makes them more popular as people follow
changed and accepted them now what the president are saying nowadays
5. The Right to be colourful
EBI
Change the music background as it was Also lower the background music as you
quite upbeat as it loses interest on what she cant here what she is saying
is talking about
Change the location when
talking about something. It is
boring to see the same location
all the time.
6. The Food Cycle
WWW
Demonstrating what they are
Interviewing the public people to get their view on it
talking about using a voiceover
Using charts to show what the interviewers
agreed on or not or unsure about it. To prove
their point to other viewers.
7. The Food Cycle
EBI
The cut down some points from the Need to control the volume in the
interviewer as you loose interest in background as it is loud and you can’t really
what they are talking about . focus on what the girl is saying
8. Media Manipulation
WWW
Starting of with the rhetorical Using interviews to see what they Using statistic of
question straight away to get the think about the media today what the public
audience thinking says about the
media
Using images on how the media
make teenager look nowadays
then they actually are. Etc. out of
control
9. Media Manipulation
EBI
They need to lower the volume in the
Shorten the interviewers clip as you
background as you cant hear what the
lose interest after awhile
girl is saying at all
If the host doesn’t keep on moving herself when she
is talking as it shows she is slacking and not
interested in what she is talking about
10. Most effective Documentary
The most effective documentary would be ‘The right
to be colourful’ as they…
Using one of the clips of one of the most
Used images and clip to show what the important people, the president, too see what
religion thought about the gays his thoughts were about the gay as people look
up to him
Also using timelines by going back in
time of how gays were treated and
how it has change and how being gay
is more accepted now
11. Least effective Documentary
The least effective documentary would be ‘Media
Manipulation’ as they….
Needed to cut down a lot of things Also while the host was talking she was also moving
from the interviewers as it was too about and it just shows that she is not that engage
long and you lose interest what they about the topic she is talking about making the
talking about audience not care too
One of the most issues was the volume
control in the background you cant really
hear what she is saying. She needed to pick
a location that has less sound.
12. What I Have Learnt
(What to do in my documentary)
Overall I have learnt many things such as using interviews from the
public to get their side of the view to make our documentary more
realistic so the viewers at home can be interested to see what their
opinion are about certain things.
Also using statistic makes you see that you have researched your
sources well and giving real data to the audience.
As well I have also learnt that while talking about your topic, it is
better to use images to show what you are talking about and it will
be clearer to the audience to see the things instead of just listening
to it. Using the images are more likely to keep them interested.
13. What I Have Learnt
(What not to do in my documentary)
On the other hand this helped me a lot to see what things from the documentary to not do
in your own documentary such as volume control. While looking at the other documentary,
volume control was one of the major issues as they didn’t really think or check to see that
you could not hear the host speak making the audience loose interest to watch them.
Also while interviewing the public people it is important to only show the important things.
Most people from the documentaries had really long interview clips and did not cut things
down making their documentary mostly having long interview clips throughout their
documentary. Which would make the viewers at home not interest as it is too long and not
engaging for them to stay and listen.
It is important to control the amount of things you want in the documentary so you can
engage the viewers to carry on watching the documentary.
