- 15. In 1984 of the Tokyo International Marathon, one Japanese athlete Yamada unexpectedly won the world championship. Reporters asked him his secret of success, he said that: ”I use wisdom to defeat opponent." Many people didn’t believe him. Marathon is the sport requires both physical strength and endurance. He said that wisdom led to his success seems reluctantly.
- 16. Two years later, Yamada Italian International Marathon championship again. A reporter asked him secret of his success. Yamada answered the reporter the same as last time:" I use wisdom to defeat opponent." Everyone was puzzled by his so-called wisdom.
- 17. Yamada in his autobiography he says:" Before each game, I will travel the whole route and check it carefully. I will mark some important signs alone the road, such as the first mark is a bank, the second mark is a tree, and the third mark is a red house, thus mark to the end. Ten years later, the mystery is finally discovered.
- 18. When the race begins, I run as fast as I can towards the 1st goal, the bank. When I arrive at the bank, I will strive for the 2nd goal, the tree. I break the whole marathon route into many small goals and finish them one by one easily. If I had set my goal at the end of the 40 kilometers then I would be exhausted in the first 10 kilometers because I am scared by the remote distance."
- 19. This story gives us a lot of inspiration. You can learn a lot from it. A great dream can be achieved through many small goals. These small goals are your short term goals. Sometimes we fail not because the goal is too hard, it is that we don't break the long term goal into several small goals. So we feel that success is too far away.

- Nooyi was born in Madras (presently Chennai), Tamil Nadu, India. She was educated at Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Madras. She received a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from Madras Christian College in 1974 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (MBA) from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta in 1976.[4] Beginning her career in India, Nooyi held product manager positions at Johnson & Johnson and textile firm Mettur Beardsell. She was admitted to Yale School of Management in 1978 and earned a Master's degree in Public and Private Management. While at Yale, she completed her summer internship with Booz Allen Hamilton.[5] Graduating in 1980, Nooyi joined the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and then held strategy positions at Motorola and Asea Brown Boveri.
- After graduation in Electrical Engineering (with an emphasis in Electronics) from the prestigious Delhi College of Engineering (now known as Delhi Technological University) in 1971, he joined a Delhi-based semiconductor company called Continental Devices.[7] In 1975, he left this job and joined University of Cincinnati,[8] in Cincinnati, Ohio – USA, to pursue a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, where he specialised in Solid State Science. After completing his masters degree in 1977, he joined NCR Corporation[9] at Dayton, Ohio, where he did cutting edge work in developing advanced Non-Volatile Memories. He then joined Intel,[10] where he led the development of the world famous Pentium processor. He is called the "Father of Pentium"[11][12] for his role in the development of the Pentium processor. He is also one of the co-inventors of Intel’s first Flash memory technology (ETOX).[13] He rose to the position of vice-president of Micro processor Group at Intel. He left Intel in 1995, and joined a startup NexGen,[14] which was subsequently acquired by AMD.[15] Dham played an instrumental role in the launch of K6[16] – the "Pentium killer" processor at rival AMD. He held vice president position of AMD's Computation Products Group. He then went on to lead a nascent startup, Silicon Spice[17] in April 1998, which he redirected to build a VOIP Chip and later sold it to Broadcom[18] in 2000. He then launched an incubator NewPath Ventures, where he co – founded companies with an objective of using India’s emerging talent in chip design for R&D. He is currently a Managing Director and founder of Indo US Venture Partners,[19] an early stage India focused fund that he founded after NewPath. Dham has over the years been a Board member and an advisor to dozens of private and public companies.
