To honor the artist the year 2009 was recognized Primachenko year by UNESCO. A small planet 14624 was given the name "Primachenko". Likhachev boulevard, the street in the center of Kyiv, was renamed to Primachenko boulevard.

24. Maria Prymachenko was born in 1909 and lived her whole life,
until 1997, in Ukraine. She is known as an icon of Naïve Art in
Ukraine. Her mystical beasts have become emblematic of the
whole Ukrainian folk tradition, which surrounded Maria
Prymachenko in her childhood: her mother embroidered, father
was a talented carpenter, grandmother painted Easter eggs. To

39. In 2013, the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat discovered that one of
Marimekko’s patterned fabrics was a copy. The pattern called Metsänväki
(Forest Folk) that was drawn by the designer Kristina Isola in 2007 was
almost identical to the Ukrainian folk artist Maria Primatjenko’s work Rat
on a journey from 1963. The Helsinki newspaper called the plagiarism
scandal a “national shame”, the airline Finnair was forced to paint over
the Marimekko pattern that they had just painted on an air plane and
Marimekko discontinued the collaboration with the designer

Invading Russian forces destroyed a museum in Ivankiv (a city northwest of the capital Kyiv), that was home
to dozens of works by the Ukrainian folk artist Maria Prymachenko on Sunday 28 February 2022. The
Ivankiv Historical and Local History Museum, located northwest of the capital city Kyiv was burnt to the
ground, along with 25 works by Prymachenko, according to the Kyiv Independent
