“Healthcare data is becoming more complex, unstructured, and decentralized as it brings into its ambit a growing variety of entities and associated data,” explained Scalable CEO Sam Biswal. “This includes EMRs, hospital discharge records, clinical data, drug prescriptions, state monitoring programs, and NIH directives, plus wearable IoT and social media feeds.” To accelerate and improve the quality, reliability, and granularity of insights from this data, Scalable will integrate (or wrangle) it with the interchangeable CoSort or Hadoop engines in Voracity. “We will also use Voracity to classify, anonymize, and measure the likelihood that PHI can be re-identified,” Biswal added.

Big Data Experts Choose IRI Platform to Optimize Analytic Outcomes and Protect Patient
IDs
PISCATAWAY, NJ, OCTOBER 25, 2018 — Scalable Health ( scalablehealth.com), a division of
Scalable Systems) focused on analytics and digitization for the Healthcare industry, has
joined forces with IRI, The CoSort Company (iri.com) to use the IRI Voracity data
management platform for improving time-to-insight and patient privacy. The companies
will cooperate in consulting engagements and the development of fit-for-purpose
healthcare applications that make use of big data and other repositories of clinical
information on-premise or in the cloud.
The software and services alliance will combine Scalable’s proven expertise in provider,
payer, and life sciences markets with Voracity’s proven data processing performance and a
vast array of analytic and visualization options to accelerate diagnoses, increase margins,
and foster innovations. Voracity will also allow Scalable and its customers to find, de-
identify, and risk-score Protected Health Information (PHI) on their systems. These built-in
technologies retain the research value of the data and comply with HIPAA Safe Harbour
and Expert Determination Method rules.
“Healthcare data is becoming more complex, unstructured, and decentralized as it brings into
its ambit a growing variety of entities and associated data,” explained Scalable CEO Sam
Biswal. “This includes EMRs, hospital discharge records, clinical data, drug prescriptions,
state monitoring programs, and NIH directives, plus wearable IoT and social media feeds.”
To accelerate and improve the quality, reliability, and granularity of insights from this data,
Scalable will integrate (or wrangle) it with the interchangeable CoSort or Hadoop engines in
Voracity. “We will also use Voracity to classify, anonymize, and measure the likelihood that
PHI can be re-identified,” Biswal added.
Voracity optimizes and combines the discovery, blending, and masking of huge amounts of
disparate data. It can also generate statistical, summary, and predictive (trend) reports in
2D and graphical formats, feed BIRT and Splunk, or prepare display-ready subsets for R and
other analytic tools. According to IRI SVP David Friedland, “This is why Dr. Barry Devlin — a
data warehouse and data lake expert — just dubbed Voracity a Production Analytic Platform.”
But what it means for Scalable and its clients is more significant. Specifically, “they can use
the Eclipse job design and execution environment in Voracity to tap into new data pools and
build solutions that can ultimately enhance health outcomes in fields like Precision Medicine,
Personalized Care, Risk Stratification, Preventable Hospital Readmissions, Patient
Engagement, and Population Health Management, to name a few,” Friedland observed.
