Social media is changing how businesses operate in three key ways:
1) Through networking and connections on platforms that allow information and data sharing between users.
2) By providing context about users' personal and professional lives that makes shared information more relevant.
3) Through the data collected on users that reveals trends and provides value as the network grows.
This document discusses how these dimensions are transforming branding, generating new business, gathering knowledge, and finding talent for businesses using social media.
The document discusses several topics related to business principles including social responsibility, renewable and nonrenewable resources, employee benefits offered by companies like Google and SAS, and the role of government. Social responsibility refers to a business's duty to contribute to community well-being by weighing the interests of various stakeholder groups. Renewable resources like wood and water can be replenished quickly while nonrenewables such as oil are used up. Employee benefits are perks companies offer to attract workers, though some cut benefits in tough economies. Google and SAS provide shuttle services, bikes, and vendor discounts as benefits. The government controls certain economic factors but not all private business decisions.
The document provides information about direct and inverse variation, including:
1) Examples of direct variation relationships involving weeks in a year, minutes in an hour, and feet in an inch. Equations are given to represent these relationships.
2) Examples are worked through using the direct variation equations to find requested values involving hours in days and inches in a cabinet.
3) Key properties of direct variation are described, such as what happens when one quantity doubles or decreases while the other stays the same.
4) An example of an inverse variation relationship involving the area of a rectangle and length/width is given, and the graph of this relationship is discussed.

Mmg 692 Jh01 Leadership Presentation Leslie Mary Lou Christina Alicia Ka...Leslie Pirtle, MM, MEd
1. The document discusses four leadership styles: Type A (fact-based), Type B (creativity-based), Type C (feelings-based), and Type D (control/power-based).
2. Each style has different characteristics in how they lead, make decisions, communicate, and interact with others. For example, Type A focuses on results and facts, while Type C bases decisions on feelings.
3. The styles also have strengths and weaknesses. For instance, Type D is effective in emergencies but risks failing to recognize others' skills. Understanding different styles can help match leadership and tasks.
Using a regular rope of poly, nylon or sisal has
some inherent problems when used as tag line:
1. They tend to wrap around objects
2. They get caught in pinch points
3. The bottoms fray and are then knotted to
stop the fraying causing the line to catch
4. They get slick when worn, wet or dirty
with grease
The MARINE ANTI-TANGLE TAG LINE solves these problems, as it is specifically designed
for the application. MARINE ANTI-TANGLE TAG LINES are tangle resistant as the centre
rope is wrapped with an outer layer of smaller diameter rope. This resists the tag line turning on
itself and wrapping around objects or people. MARINE ANTI-TANGLE TAG LINES are
designed not to catch on pinch points, as there are no knots or raised surfaces.
The document discusses four main themes from A Doll's House:
1) Appearance vs reality, where characters put on false appearances that differ from the truth of their situations.
2) The sacrificial role expected of women to pretend happiness and prioritize their husband's needs.
3) Traditional filial and parental roles and obligations, with women taking on most childcare duties.
4) The importance placed on maintaining proper social appearances of happy, functional families and gender roles, as divorce was scandalous.
This document provides instructions for completing a political ideology survey. It explains that participants should use a 5-point scale to respond to statements about economic/foreign policy issues and social issues. For each response, they should multiply the points for their answer by a 1-3 intensity rating for how important the issue is to them personally and record the scores in the provided columns. They will then subtract the totals of the odd and even numbered columns to calculate X and Y coordinates that represent their political ideology on the survey's scales.
Social influences from community attitudes, gender expectations, and media stereotypes can affect the roles of parents and carers. Community attitudes can mirror current social norms and influence parenting roles, with non-conforming families sometimes facing negativity. Gender expectations are often a result of socialization and reflected in how parenting duties are divided along gender lines. Media exposes individuals to social norms and can subtly reinforce stereotypes about parenting roles. A parent or carer challenging social influences can impact their wellbeing.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.

Work: at work tablets will be used for carrying presentations and media to meetings, to display presentationsinone-to-one situations and for checking email. It will probably also double as a secondary screen to sit on the desk for checking feeds such as RSS, Twitter and Facebook and other personal use.
Home: tablets will obviously be used for browsing the internet, making online purchases and using social networks. One of the most common uses will be reading tablet versionsofmagazinesand newspapers that are visually more appealing than a webpage. In the kitchen and the bedroom a tablet is a perfectly adequate alternative to a small television. As technology catches up, tablets will also be used to control devices in the home like central heating, lighting and more.
Out and about: in Japan, the most successful portable games console in the world, the Nintendo DS, is used by museums and galleries to download temporary content like maps and guides. People can then use the device to help them find their way around and to learn more about exhibits. It makes perfect sense for this use to migrate to tablets like the iPad. Even shopping experiences in supermarkets could be made better with such interactive guidance.
Display: display advertising on the iPad is the biggest opportunity for advertisers because it allows you to deliver an accountable, powerful brand message literally into the hands of your consumers. Existing online display adverts on websites already work really well and advertising in apps extends this. We‟re already seeing some amazing new formats and uses of the touch screen for ads. Some resemble those of online banners, skyscrapers and MPUs but many are going the extra mile. Publishers like the Telegraph, Sky, The Guardian and magazines are investing heavily in very slick, almost print like, designed pages in apps. This in turn allows for incredibly slick advert placements within these pages on the iPad. Some are up to half the size of the screen and interactive without having to leave the app. Adverts never looked nor felt so good!
Search: using search engines like Bing and Google for natural and paid search marketing will be as big on the iPad as it is online and mobile. Search offers instantly accountable advertising that captures a person‟s intent at that moment. But remember, it is no longer a simple list of text links. Search now means video, images, maps and more. There are huge opportunities for marketers with these richer uses of search to help you stand out on the iPad screen.
Email: tablets are perfectly suited to receiving emails, including newsletters from brands. The opportunity for brands to communicate using email is exactly the same as online. You can either write your own newsletter for customer retention or advertise in existing newsletters for acquisition.
Social media: if you‟ve used any form of social media on your computer and iPhone, the experience will be familiar to you on the iPad and the marketing potential is just the same – it‟s a fantastic way for brands to interact directly with their consumers.
Video: people are used to adverts around video content such as on TV, in the cinema and it‟s a huge growth area online. It is therefore a natural progression to include advertising around video content on tablets. It‟s also one of the easiest ways for advertisers to engage with iPad content because many TV and online ads will be perfectly suited to being shown on the iPad‟s large, high resolution screen. That said, the iPad represents a great opportunity for brands to film ads specifically for the device. We actually expect original iPad video ads to be so popular they will actually force increased adoption of better video ads online too.
Websites: browsing the internet on the iPad has been described by Apple as the best browsing experience yet, and reviews seem to agree. Unlike on mobile, the screen isn‟t squashed, so using existing websites is a fantastic experience. At the IAB we think it is essential that brands have a web presence online and on mobile. This sentiment is now extended to tablets and could simply mean using or tweaking your existing website or a custom built tablet site to make use of the unique interface. The iPad browser can read HTML5, which allows websites to operate similar functionality to Flash. While many companies seem to be creating apps instead of dedicated iPad websites, the IAB strongly recommends that brands do consider a website first. Quite often you don‟t need an entire app, a website will suffice. There are significant pros of having a website over an app too, such as being found in search engines, the source of most online traffic. App content can‟t be found in search engines at the moment.
Apps: brands can engage with consumers using apps – software that can be used for almost any purpose you can think of. You can create your own app (e.g. to offer a service or a branded mini-game) or advertise within existing apps (e.g. normal media like The Telegraph and Sky News). Branded apps on the iPhone have been incredibly successful for brands like BarclayCard, Compare the Market and Coors Beer. Likewise, advertising in existing apps has proven as successful as advertising online or in print media. This trend will no doubt continue on the iPad as apps can sometimes offer benefits over a standard website, such as not needing an internet connection once content has been downloaded and currently making better use of the device‟s touch screen, checkout, GPS location and motion control.
