The Apprenticeship wage is changing July 2015 update
1.
2. The Apprenticeship Minimum Wage is
changing with effect from the 1st October
2015.
The rate is increasing by 57p an hour to
£3.30 per hour.
3. All apprenticeship adverts that have a
start date of 1st October or later must
meet the new requirements.
All providers need to ensure that wages
for current and future apprentices are
changed to reflect the new legal requirement.
4. It would also be prudent to use the new rate for
all starts from mid September onwards, as this
will make adverts more appealing to candidates
and the rate will be changing a few weeks later.
5. For any adverts that require the inclusion of the minimum wage
paragraph in the “Important Other Information” section ensure it is
amended to reflect the new rate:
“With effect from October 1st 2015 the National Minimum
Wage (NMW) for Apprentices is £3.30 per hour. This applies
to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in
the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other
Apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their
age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time
spent on the job plus time spent training.”
