9. Polykleitos sought to capture the ideal
proportions of the human figure in his
statues and developed a set of aesthetic
principles governing these proportions
that was known as the Canon or 'Rule'.
He created the system based on
mathematical ratios.
10. Praxiteles introduced his own scheme of
proportions for representing the human
body, and it is said that he also invented
new ways of depicting the gods. His
male figures are noted for their elegantly
curved poses, relaxed appearance, and
an overall impression of softness.
