To use Telnet, you need the Internet address of the host you want to connect to. Your Telnet client will then contact the host using its address. Data is sent across the Internet from your keyboard and packets are sent to the proper location on the host. The host receives and executes commands and displays results, allowing for remote terminal access between computers connected over the Internet.
