1. Film noir is a French term which translates to ‘Black Film’. It was
inspired from a line of paperbacks which had the popular audience
in France at the time. Film noir do not mislead you with a fairy tale
ending. This is why Film Noir worked so well.

2. Seen as film noir was a black and white film they did not have to
focus to much on the dark but the location where murders
happen were always in dark places such as, dark alleyways, at
night, apartment's. It would build up to a murder by the sound of
music being played and the way the locations look.

3. Smoking was common in these films because everyone smoked
back then and didn’t know it could be bad for health, it also
suggested that the smoke put on a cloak to the person they were
talking to so gives them more mystery. In most films you see in Noir
films you see the characters smoke a lot.

4. Femme Fatales are women who mislead a male character this could
lead to them being in serious trouble or even getting themselves into
that kind of trouble. The women would always look beautiful and
would seduce the male which might get them killed in the film. She
is the mystery women.

5. Women in noir films surely wore a red dress which is a connotation
for danger, they are usually dressed up and have a lot of makeup
on, you could sometimes see them with red lipstick which could be
seen again as danger. They also have long dresses with long gloves
on so they are not revealing to people.

6. They appear to be very strong and fearless, men in noir films are usually seen to have
suits with ties to show how smart they look and to show what the era they are in.
Normally in film noir’s you will see the men with guns this provides safety for them and
for anybody around them they could also use this to kill someone so the men in films
could be seen as a killer. Men are always seen to drive cars because then they have
authority of were they are going and people cant change it, normally the women are
being drove when the men are driving the car so could be seen as a servant. Sometimes
you may even see the man to be have a cigarette this could shield him when you see
him in movies with the puffs of smoke he blows out.

7. Film noir is a film that is in black and white through the whole film, the main characters in
these films are normally men who are working for the police or at a place who safeguards
others. These men are normally seduced by a femme fatale which is a women character
which she can be misleading and lead the man astray. Sometimes the women in these
films are in a bad way or need help from the male. In these films the relationship between
the femme fatale and the man don’t work out this normally breaks the males heart in the
film.
