2. My Lesson Plan: Passover Rebus Grade Level: Middle School + [Fun for
adults, too!]
Once students have studied the characters, story line, order and symbols of
the seder, this lively rebus game can serve as a fun and engaging way to
review.
MATERIALS:
1. Computer and projector
2. Chalk or white board to keep score
ADVANCE PREPARATION
1. Explain the rules for solving a rebus (word-picture puzzle)
2. Practice with one sample slide of instructor’s choice.
3. Pop culture references may require some advanced explanation. Kids
may not know the 3 Stooges’ Moe, Charro, Bruce Lee, Ann Hathaway, Ted
Williams, etc. Instructor can Google these images & show them to the
class before the actual game begins.
3. Format :
1. Divide the class into 2 teams.
2. 1 player from each team is “up.”
3. The instructor projects a Power Point slide. Whichever team
solves the puzzle first gets the point. Then player #2 from each
team solves the next puzzle, and so on until all the slides have
been viewed.
There are four sets of slides that follow: Passover People, Passover
Rebus Redux, Passover Rebus, and Passover Foods. Each one can be
a separate game.
