3. Collaboration
Our business environment evolves quickly to mirror rapid changes
in user, cultural and technological landscapes. So, we too adapt, to
embrace these changes. Nevertheless, one thing remains constant:
‘Our conviction that we, as people, must gather
to create together.’
This brochure is designed to communicate what it would be like to work
with us; the type of projects to which we add value and what tools we use
to facilitate this.
Phi is a symbol of mathematical progression which
is recognised throughout architecture, the arts
and nature where it is esteemed as a measure
of balance, proportion and beauty. It can be seen
in the spirals of a sunflower, the proportions
of a human body and in the universe.
Curious name Phi. Why Phi?

5. Core Competence
Design – to conceive in the mind; to plan out in a systematic form.
Since 2003 Phi Lighting has been engaged in the design of high quality lighting products and systems which
add value and benefit through technical innovation. Our proposals and design support services are delivered
by qualified, experienced planners in light and we precisely tailor our proposals to your brief for architectural,
aesthetic and technical performance whilst not challenging, but augmenting the architecture.
Create – to produce through imaginative effort; to make by investing.
Since inception Phi Lighting strives to create environments that will enable the users of such spaces a free,
uncluttered approach to the completion of the task; for study and learning, for duties in an office, for transit
throughout spaces and areas for pause and contemplation. The marriage, not disconnection, of light and
architecture, clearly defines such spaces and the success of the creation. Without light you will not see
but to see the source of the light may not be the intent of the creator.
Develop – to bring into being; to expand or enlarge.
Through the vehicle of a design-led product portfolio and a capable, future thinking staff, Phi Lighting can
work with you to ensure new ideas are realised, so that trends in design lead to the application of lighting
that works in harmony with the needs of the project.
Support – to hold in position, prevent from falling; to provide for or maintain.
There are three fundamental pillars to support. We must recognise designers are under pressure to deliver
projects and ensure they comply with legislation and recommendation, creating an opportunity for a fast,
flexible service. Adding client value by embracing technology, but led by our values for: quality, performance
and engineering aesthetic. A committed belief that exceptional solutions derive from working collaboratively
to craft imagination and creativity, onto a foundation of technical excellence.
6. Let us not presume to be prescriptive for that would be dull, merely to show some of our tools to you; here
we seek to flavour an introduction with a few products from Phi Lighting. We’ve dared to show them in typical
application areas but it is not intended to be definitive– more an invitation to imagine. Together, with the core
competencies of Phi Lighting, the lit environment can be brought to life, the architecture can be seen and the
scene will be set.
The Collections
The Collections – Workplace
More commonly known as the office, modern work practices call for a
more flexible space, the demands of which are not always understood
at the time of conception. However, these must be recognised and
resolved with lighting playing a major part.
The Collections – Transitory
Moving from space to space whether through dedicated route or
notional, lighting can provide functional, complementary or even
a distraction. Light can lead and direct and provide illumination by
indirect source such as wall illumination.
The Collections – Ribbons of Light
Unbroken clean lines of light to shape a space can suggest form
and volume. Elongation, partition and punctuation can be achieved
using simple extrusions; recessed, surface and suspended.
The Collections – Breakout
When it’s time to change the pace or the task, move to an informal
setting or simply take a break, the lighting should tell a different story.
A successful breakout space will not replicate the workplace but
instead contradict it.
7. The Collections - Workplace
Uniform, Architectural, Efficient – Cirro a family of luminaires to meet the demands of the workplace.
Characterised by advanced technical features the Cirro and Array ranges offer precise light for precise
requirements. A truly versatile family of luminaires for the workplace environment and all installation needs.

9. The Collections - Workplace
Adding Depth, Dynamic, Efficient – Echoic & Angle recessed luminaires to meet the demands of the workplace.
Lighting solution to balance internal with external, the dual component characteristic of the Echoic
and Angle ranges gives the user a sense of harmony between the environment and the workplace.

for: UGR or efficacy or depth or a combination of
all these.
The unique integrating chamber featured in Angle
mixes LED light and issues it in an appealing, diffuse
distribution that deals with the potential glare of LED
in an imaginative way.
Part of the Echoic 1 series, the DNA1, is IP rated
for pharma-chem and cleanroom facilities and brings
the same high quality of light to those environments.

Architectural, Defining, Efficient – Stria, a luminaire system for architectural application.
Smooth, unassuming ribbons of light for architectural application makes Stria the perfect design feature
where the light, not the luminaire, is to be experienced. With LED technology (T16 on application) the
pleasantly uniform appearance ensures collaboration with the building and it’s use.

is obscured and the simplicity of the structure shines. A discreet indirect component for ceiling illumination
further determines the luminaire’s three-dimensional effect.
