1. Derwick Associates Funds School Projects
Here at Derwick Associates de Venezuela, one of the things we’re most passionate about
is our educational projects across the country. We are conscious that the sociological and
ecological impact that we make on the country is a positive one, so this is why we are
constantly looking for new ways to reach out to our communities.
Our CEO Alejandro Betancourt Lopez and VP Pedro Trebbau Lopez have overseen
many different projects over the years, especially helping our youth with their
educational development.
One example of one of our school projects was the creation of the Carmen Sallés School,
which is in Nazareth. The aim of the project was to have a school which would be able to
allow around 1,600 children between the ages of 4 and 12. This amount was a large part
of the school population of the town of Nazareth, meaning that so many more children
had the opportunity to go to school.
Another project was with the El Saman de Caujarito Community in Charallave. This
particular community is the neighbour to our La Raisa power plant, where we have a
major power generation project. We are dedicated to helping those communities near and
around our developments. We work in conjunction with the community councils to create
long lasting relationships. With the El Saman de Caujarito Community, we provided
school supplies kits for around 200 children. These kits included basic tools to help the
children with their activities.
We also are keen to help younger people get more involved with sport, so this is why we
got involved with the "Plan I"soccer field” in the community of Caucaguita, Edo.
Miranda. This community severely lacked any facilities like this, so we helped to build
somewhere for young people to go. The new field helps children from around 15,000
families, and can be used in the day and at night time, as the court has floodlights. Not
only this, but to encourage younger people to use the field, it was arranged that players
from the Club Deportivo Petare would come and play.
