• The RIPE NCC was formed by the RIPE community in 1992 as secretariat to
support the activities of RIPE to:
- Enable the technical coordination of the Internet infrastructure
- Ensure neutrality and impartiality
- Provide a consistent contact point

 The RIPE NCC does not accept or reject policies

Organization (NRO)
• The five RIRs form the NRO

- Protect the unallocated pool of Internet number resources
