1. For Meeting 6 read Chapters 11& 12 and work through the following questions
1. (Chap 11) Do you think sin can be fun?
2. (chap 11) Can you identify a time when the consequences of your own sin became its own
punishment?
3. In my opinion, the key passage in chapter 11 is the middle section on page 88. It contains this
sentence: “So for those who refuse the offer of God’s loving rule, there is a place where they can be
free from it forever.” Where/What is this place?
4. Someone once said that the gates of Hell will be locked from the inside. Take a stab at what this
might mean.
5. Read this quote from The Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard
“I am thoroughly convinced that God will let everyone into heaven who… can stand it. But
‘standing it’ may prove to be a more difficult matter than those who take their view of heaven from
popular movies or popular preaching may think. The fires of heaven may be hotter than the fires of
hell” What do you think the author is trying to say here?
6. In chapter 12 we learn that religion is man’s attempt to control God.
I think the meat in chapter 12 is on 92-93 & 97. Contrast the difference between Christianity as a
‘religion’ and the decision to give Jesus Christ the rule over all of a person’s life.
Why does the ‘religion’ option seem so attractive to us (reread the bottom paragraph on page 93)?
(note: p 97 2nd to last paragraph Everything we’ve covered so far has ‘set the table’ for what is now
to come…..)
