  2. 2. CEREMONIES <ul><li>The Ancient Egyptians were always ready to celebrate. </li></ul><ul><li>The Ancient Egyptians always celebrated their gods. If a King or Queen died there was a party or ceremony. </li></ul>They worshipped Kings and Queens
  3. 3. Calendars <ul><li>Ancient Egyptians made calendars to record their dates of their birthdays, festivals, feasts, and holidays. </li></ul><ul><li>Many of their calendars were carved inside of their temples. </li></ul>To be continued
  4. 4. Calendar Dates and Events Another holiday they celebrated was New Years Day. The time they celebrated New Years was in June. <ul><li>The Horn of Plenty is a traditional harvest icon and the celebration of a good harvest means plenty of food for all. </li></ul>In ancient Egypt, New Year was celebrated at the time the River Nile flooded, which was near the end of September. The flooding of the Nile was very important because without it, the people would not have been able to grow crops in the dry desert. At New Year, statues of the god, Amon and his wife and son were taken up the Nile by boat. Singing, dancing, and feasting was done for a month, and then the statues were taken back to the temple.   In Ancient Egypt, the New Year was celebrated at the time the River Nile flooded, which was near the end of September.
