Design Brief
(IRCTC)
GOAL :
To redesign the existing IRCTC website, so that user can easily search for the trains and book,
cancel the tickets.
PROBLEMS :
User :
1. Even to check the train list between stations and their availability signup is mandatory for
any user, this leads to user going to another train enquiry websites
2. People don’t like filling long signup forms, this makes the user to feel overwhelmed by
the complexity of the process gets distracted and confused with too many focal points.
3. When a new user wants to book the ticket no information is provided which quota suits
and what are different classes, this leads to user go for offline booking.
Business :
1. More complex in ticket generation process leads to users approaching the agents and
brokers.
OUTCOMES :
User :
1. A guest user can check the train list travelling between stations and their availability
without a signup.
2. With a simple registration form keeping it short will increase the conversion rate and
make it more user friendly.
3. Provide only useful guidelines and instructions while selecting different quotas and
classes.
Business :
1. The user can easily register and generate his ticket.
