Students' Areas of Interest
Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) was conceptualized as a response to limited institutional capacity in India for
strengthening training, research and policy development in the area of Public Health. PHFI was launched as a large scale,
autonomously governed public private initiative on March 28, 2006 at New Delhi. One of the core mandates of PHFI is to
institutionalize public health by creating Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) across the country.
With an objective to strengthen public health system in India, PHFI has launched a network of five Indian Institutes of
Public Health (IIPHs) in Delhi, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar and Shillong. With a vision to become a
benchmark in teaching, training and research in the public health arena, the IIPHs are aimed at educating and
nurturing human resources by providing quality training, to graduates from multiple disciplines, in various public health
domains. Each IIPH works closely with state governments to conduct research relevant to the home state and surrounding
regions, so as to contribute to overall national health goals.
