3. In 1988 Irina Vladimirovna graduated from Arkhangelsk State
Technical University and come back to her native place. She was
fond of renju, a strategy board game originating in Japan from the
Heian period. In September, 1991 Irina Vladimirovna founded a
section of renju in Poduga.
4. Since that time about 1190 boys and girls have attended it. They
visited Estonia, Sweden, Armenia, Ukraine, China, Japan, Finland,
the Czech Republic and 19 cities in Russia. The Youth World
Championship in Renju in 2002, Youth European Championships in
1999 and 2004 were held in Poduga.
