Tematem prezentacji będzie infrastruktura hostingowa i sieciowa, która została użyta do przeprowadzenia emisji internetowych z Mistrzostw Świata w Piłce Nożnej RIO 2014.

China’s global land investments SIANI expert group 1 st meeting SIANI
This document discusses China's global land investments and agricultural engagement in Africa. It notes that China's agricultural investments in Africa from 1960-1980s involved large state-owned farms operated entirely by China to produce for the host country. However, maintaining large state-owned farms proved inefficient, forcing a change in strategy. China's strategy in the 1990s became more business oriented, integrating aid with Chinese enterprises. Today, China's agricultural engagement in Africa involves technical cooperation centers, hundreds of small-medium scale farms operated by Chinese workers, and preferential loans and grants with a business-driven, non-interventionist, mutually beneficial model. However, some view China's land investments as "land grabs" while others see development opportunities, with
Chemical Ecology for Sustainable Sorghum Production in EthiopiaSIANI
The sorghum chafer causes up to 70% crop loss in Ethiopia, but conventional control methods are ineffective; through chemical ecology research, the document identifies two highly attractive odor lures - a host plant component and female-produced pheromone - that could be developed into standardized lures to efficiently trap the pest and help farmers sustainably produce sorghum. Field tests found that combining an unmated female with food further increased trap catches, and a particular female-produced compound, phenylacetaldehyde, was very attractive to both sexes.
The Economics of Sustainable Land Management Practices in the Ethipian HighlandsSIANI
This study was presented during the conference “Production and Carbon Dynamics in Sustainable Agricultural and Forest Systems in Africa” held in September, 2010.
Small-scale farmers in sub-Saharan Africa achieve less than 30% of potential yields due to deficiencies in technology, capital markets, infrastructure, and property rights. Improving small holder agriculture productivity is a high development priority, especially in Africa. For small-scale farmers to benefit from development, gaps must be addressed in factors influencing their low productivity.
Synthesis : Urban and periurban animal farmingSIANI
This document summarizes challenges and opportunities related to urban and peri-urban animal farming. It notes that urban animal farming provides opportunities like proximity to markets and use of urban wastes, but also poses challenges like disease transmission risks due to high animal and human densities. Specific challenges discussed include manure management, securing sufficient high quality feed, and controlling infectious diseases. The document advocates a holistic approach and more research on topics like vermicomposting and better utilization of feed resources to help address these challenges and increase food security through urban livestock production.
Priorities and Strategic Initiatives for Securing Forest and Community Land ...SIANI
Presented as part of the Seminar on Securing Forest and Community Land Rights - Challenges, Trends and Ways Forward. The seminar focused on forests and other off-farm areas that constitute vital resources for the food security and livelihoods of the rural poor in many developing countries. These lands are often used in integrated ways by local communities under communal customary arrangements while often formally owned by the state. Unclear land rights make these resources and associated livelihoods particularly vulnerable in the current context of increased demand for land; this needs to be better recognized and articulated in discussions on land rights and responsible land investments.

Management of Ecosystem Services in Amazonian Smallholder Land Use SystemsSIANI
This study was presented during the conference “Production and Carbon Dynamics in Sustainable Agricultural and Forest Systems in Africa” held in September, 2010.
This document discusses climate-smart agriculture which aims to increase food security, adaptation to climate change, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It notes that agriculture contributes significantly to emissions but can also be part of the solution. Key points made include that climate-smart practices already exist but more investment is needed, smallholders require support to transition, and available financing is insufficient. Agriculture mitigation is not just about soils but also vegetation, and emission reductions per unit of food produced will make a major contribution. Monitoring does not need to measure everything but focus on strategic levels and proxies to help implement policies. Links between agriculture, forests, and REDD+ are also discussed.
