1) Introduction
i) Since its creation NASA’s shuttle program has had the goal to make space
travel more accessible. The biggest obstacle that NASA would have to overcome, in order
to accomplish this goal, was the cost. With the creation of five reusable shuttles, NASA
was well on its way to that goal. So why after thirty plus years is the program scheduled for
termination? The answer lies in the original roadblock in the program, cost.
ii) The space shuttle program must be terminated due to lack of funds because it is
not accomplishing its goals and is out-dated.
2) Background
i) The decision to terminate the shuttle program should not be made in haste
because there are many other factors, all pointing back to money, which needs to be
considered. This argument has split the debate floor for the past four years.
