10. Genesis of RCPIT
R. C. Patel Institute of Technology was set up as a part of the self-powered plans of Shirpur Education
Society in 2001 with the objective to erect a truly world class institute in the rural part where students
from the vicinity would be benefited from the services that matched global standards. RCPIT was
conceived by Hon. Shri. Amrishbhai R. Patel, former cabinet minister for School Education, Sports and
Youth Welfare for Maharashtra State. The institute has grown at a remarkable pace and has gone on to
become an institute of repute within the country. It is spread over 30.6 acres of lush green land providing
an ambience congenial to the pursuit of high quality technical education. Every single detail of the
institute has been implemented at par with global standards in accordance to the norms of AICTE, New
Delhi. The strength of RCPIT lies in its state of the art Laboratories, IIT virtual Classrooms & Laboratories,
Digital Library, and an advanced Workshop.

11. The institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and is
affiliated to the North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon (accredited 4-star status by
NAAC, Bangalore). The institute has been accorded a status of Minority (Gujrathi
Linguistic) by the Government of Maharashtra. RCPIT is also recognized under UGC
Section 2[f] & 12[B]. The institute is accredited by Tata Consultancy Services and is
awarded by WIPRO as 'Best College in Western Region'

15. Computer Center
A modern computer center occupying an area of 300 sq. mtr. serves as a central facility for
all the departments. Center comprises of a server room having eight servers, four servers
for data base, a Web server, a Linux server, Library server and a Domain Name server. All the
terminals in the center and computer Labs are connected through high speed networking
with Lucent Technology and 3-COM switches and are certified by AVAYA, a US based
company. A Firewall unit also exists for monitoring and controlling network traffic. All the
terminals are provided with Internet connectivity by Leased Line with a capacity of 72
Mbps with 1:1. Apart from all licensed softwares including Microsoft Campus Agreement,
the center is also equipped with visual aids like LCD projectors, Colour printers, Scanners,
Digital webcam etc.

17. Knowledge Center
Library is the place where ideas generate and vision broadens. The institute has provision
to include mandatory library hours in the time table so that students spend quality time in
the company of books and recent technical journals. The institute's central library covers a
ground area of about 612 sq. mtr. with a seating capacity of 375. The interior of the library
is well furnished with ergonomically designed seating arrangements. The library is divided
into; 170 sqmtr. reading zone , 325 sq. mtr. stacking area and 117 sq. mtr. issuing area.
The library is self-sufficient to a large extent and covers the courses offered by the institute.
Students can also access journals and magazine through the magazine zone available in
the library. The library is automated with SLIM software and is connected to the main
server to the hostel via Wi-Fi network so that students can access OPAC (Online Public
Access Catalog) through the hostel terminals. Reprographic facility is also made available
to the students and faculty members. The library remains open for the entire duration of
the college timings and provision is also made for 24 hrs access during University
Examinations. The Library is self-sufficient with all the academic requirements and has a
sound collection of National/International, Print and on line Journals, Magazines. Library is
digitalized with NPTEL IIT video lectures, E-Books, E-Journals along with Educational CDs
and CBTs. It also collaborates with IIT Mumbai and possess institutional membership.

19. Workshop
The workshop provides an opportunity for students to have hands-on experience on
various production machines and also introduce them to various trades like fitting,
carpentry, welding, blacksmithy, moulding and casting. The state of the art machine shop
is well equipped with modern all geared lathe machine, shaper, slotter, universal milling
machine, radial drilling machine, surface grinder, fly press etc. The moulding and casting
shop is equipped with coal fired crucible furnace with a sand bed & all moulding
equipments & accessories. The black smithy shop having four hearths, anvils & centralized
blower. Workshop is equipped with a digital universal machine with computer interface
for material testing, CNC lathe and CNC Milling machine is a unique feature of workshop.

20. Virtual Classroom & Laboratory
RCPIT is associated with Amrita University for the infrastructural set-up of E-learning & to facilitate the teaching-
learning process. By the virtue of this initiative, the institute enables a two way communication between RCPIT and
Experts / Alumni. RCPIT is also recognized as one of the nodal remote centers by IIT Bombay where the summer &
winter workshops and seminars are broadcasted live through CDEEP (Center for Distance Engineering Education
Program)

21. Innovation & Technology Transfer Cell
With a mission to transfer ideas, information, methods, procedures, techniques or
technology to the potential users across the world, RCPIT recently has added Innovation &
Technology Transfer (I & TT) Cell to the glorious legacy of the Institute. Every year several
projects are funded by this Cell. One of the proudest enagements of RCPIT is Mission 10x
technology Learning Center by WIPRO technology. Under this, WIPRO trains the RCPIT
students and faculty to make them industry-ready by engaging them in possible industrial
interaction & offering them practical experience.

22. Computer Engineering & Information Technology
Information Technology – the fusion of computing and communications technology – is by far the most
powerful technology ever developed. A computer engineer who desires to create a niche in the IT sector
cannot solely rely on his coding instincts alone. He needs to have strong system operational skills to be
proficient in installations, networking and troubleshooting as well. This calls for strong computing and
networking facilities with ideal configurations where a student can explore and learn. RCPIT provides the
finest computing environment that a student can ever dream of. The department of Computer
Engineering and Information Technology lays significant amount of emphasis on offering students with
maximum system operational time to improve their programming, networking and troubleshooting skills.
A total of 22 state-of-the-art Air Conditioned Labs with Research Center provides ideal platform for
performing the prescribed practicals by 24X7. The PCs are provided with uninterrupted internet
connectivity throughout the year. UPS from Emmerson Liebert supports uninterrupted work in times of
power cuts.

25. Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
The department consists of following Laboratories; Network and Lines Lab/ Power Electronics Lab,
Electronics Circuit Lab, Advanced Communication Lab, Digital Electronics/Fiber optical communication
Lab, Biomedical Instrumentation Lab/Electronic Measurement Lab, Electrical Machines Lab, Computer
Hardware and Microprocessor Lab, Basic Electronics Lab, Project, Consumer Electronics/Telematics Lab,
VLSI Lab, Antenna Lab Embedded Systems Lab, Microwave Lab etc. Laboratories have a range of
measuring instruments like logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, function generators, cathode ray
oscilloscopes, digital mutlimeters and signal generators. For projects and research work, the Project Lab is
equipped with all the instruments that are required for carrying out projects. The Lab also includes
machines like proto contact PCB art work film maker, proto-cure PCB cutting machine, photo resist dip
coating machine, double sided Ultra-violate exposure unit (Proto UV), Proto etching machine, PCB drilling
machine (Proto Drill-3000), PCB shearing machine (SLASH 300), Roller tinning machine (RTM-10) and
equipments like digital storage oscilloscope and micro controller programmer.

26. Mechanical Engineering
The department of Mechanical Engineering has well equipped laboratories
that has research oriented modern equipments and machines like
Computerized Compression ratio Diesel Engine Test Rig, Heat transfer
equipments like Force Convection, Natural Convection, Heat Exchangers,
Cooling Towers & Emissivity Apparatus.
Refrigeration/Air Conditioning lab consists of equipments like Vapour
Compression refrigeration teat rig, Mini Ice Plant, Air Conditioning and Heat
Pump test rig. CAD/CAM Lab provides CATIA, UNIGRAPHICS, SOLIDEDGE,
INVERTER & ANSYS softwares for modeling simulation & analysis. Turbo
machinery lab consists of Pelton, Francis & Kaplan turbines. Labs
demonstrations are supplemented by models, charts & simulation for clarity
of concepts.

Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering is the oldest and basic Engineering Discipline. Civil Engineering program involve a wide variety of
fields such as Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resource
Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Material Science, Remote Sensing and Construction Management.
The department consists of following Laboratories; Concrete Technology Lab, Survey Lab, Geology Lab, Testing of
material Lab, Geo-Technical lab, Model Room, Fluid Mechanics Lab consisting of Wind Tunnel, Hydraulic Flume,
Electrical Analogy Apparatus, Pelton, Francis and Kaplan Turbines. All labs are equipped with Charts, Models and
softwares.

access to various latest licensed soft-wares through sufficient number of
computer systems having latest configuration.
Faculty from department makes use of modern facilities and techniques
during classroom teaching. Faculty regularly uses of LCD projector,

The department consists of following laboratories; Electrical Measurement
Lab, Electrical Machine Lab, Network Analysis Lab, Electrical Workshop Lab,
Power Electronics Lab, Analog and Digital Electronics Lab, Control System Lab,
Power System Lab, High Voltage Engineering Lab, Industrial Drives and Control
Lab, Power System Stability Lab, Switchgear and Protection Lab,
Microprocessor and Microcontroller Lab, Computer Network Lab etc.
Laboratories have range of measuring instruments like Current Transformer
Testing Kit , Potential Transformer Testing Kit, Oil Testing Kit, High Voltage
Testing Kit, Function Generator, Digital Multimeter, Regulated Single and Dual
Power Supply, LCR-Q meter, D.C Generator-Motor Coupling Set, Induction
Motor Coupling Set and Synchronous Generator and Motor Coupling Set etc.
The lab also includes machines like High Voltage Insulation Testing Kit,
Microprocessor and Microcontroller Programmer.

33. The success of RCPIT is largely attributed to the exuberant faculty members
who are rich in qualification, high in spirits, disciplined and devoted to the
core. Perhaps the most productive and effective method of teaching and
monitoring is the one implemented at this institute, called – Tutor System &
Credit System, wherein, a batch of students are entrusted to a teacher for
not just instruction but as much for care, parenting and counseling. In
addition there are periodical appraisal and evaluation of students and
teachers (online feedback by the students). This methodology ensures that
the students feature in the University Merit List during each and every
academic year. With the objective to create a quality learning environment at
a remote location, the college has marched historically by making available
the live lectures of eminent scholars from IIT Bombay through EDUSAT
Programme jointly launched by IIT Bombay and Indian Space Research
Organization (ISRO). The lectures delivered by the faculty from IIT, Mumbai
are live at the institute at the same time. RCPIT has a Memorandum of
Understanding to facilitate and co-ordinate institute-industry interactions.
Industry expert and technical staff work as a team with the institute's staff
and participate in workshops, conferences and short courses. Students'
vacations are effectively utilized by arranging students to work in the
industry with small incentives. The staff is involved in coordinating above
interactions with the industry. The involvement of students under the
guidance of faculty members for undertaking industry-oriented projects is
not only useful to the students and academic staff, but also promotes
interactive networking between the institute and involved industries. The
most attractive feature of this teaching methodology is that library hours,
practice for aptitude, professional English communication, soft skills
training and language lab hours has been added to the academic time table.

34. Hostels & Health Club
Care and comfort of students is uppermost on the RCPIT agenda. Accordingly the institute has left no
stone unturned in providing the same to the students. There are two hostels for boys and four hostels
for girls of a capacity 200 each. The hostels are situated within the institute campus. The hostels are
connected with internet connection through Wi-Fi. The hostel mess with a large sitting capacity caters
nutritious and delicious food at a very reasonable rate. Basic recreation and sports facilities (Table
tennis, carom, cricket, tennis and Gym), TV room, STD booth etc, are made available to the students
which provides a homely atmosphere that strengthens the feeling of belongingness. Solar water heater
provides hot water throughout the year and water purifier has been installed for a clean supply of
chilled water for drinking purpose. The rooms are spacious enough for students to stay and study in
comfort. Keeping in mind 'Your health is our wealth', a modern health and entertainment club is made
available with the facilities like mini theater, coffee shop, party lawn, gym equipments, steam bath,
sauna bath, swimming pool, yoga room and indoor games.

students candidature to the industry. The placement cell is a very vital link between the institute and industry and is

48. The city is known for its amazing synthesis of
traditional values and contemporary trends. The
inhabitants of Shirpur are inherently cultural and
celebrate all the festivals with an equal zest and fervor.
But they are also out rightly pragmatic and receptive
to modern developmental issues. There is literally a
visible sense of harmony and brotherhood among the
people making it one of the safest places in India
especially for women. You would not get to hear of
any communal disharmony or even a petty antisocial
activity which are regular occurrences in bigger cities.
Shirpur is well known for its Water Conservation
Pattern. This pattern is gaining importance world-
wide. When it comes to basic amenities, Shirpur is
second to none in the country. Which other city can
boast of a surplus supply of ultra-purified drinking
water even in the driest period of the year! Students
can avail prompt and excellent medical services from
the Indira Memorial Hospital run by the Municipality. It
houses all the modern equipments and specialized
doctors and also frequently visiting surgeons from
established hospitals to attend specific ailments. For
religious devotees, the Balaji Temple is the best place

to be in. The temple is built as a replica of the original
TirupathiBalaji temple and follows the same rituals
and customs followed there.
Shirpur is a students' paradise with an absolutely
pollution free environment and an energetic
ambience conducive to learning. After the grilling
sessions of academic schedules, the students can
unwind themselves in Mukeshbhai Patel Recreation
Garden with laser fountain, Water Park, basking by
the warmth of the setting sun rays and boating in the
refreshingly cool lake and also enjoy the solitude of
the serene atmosphere in the vicinity. The park is also
adorned with green bushes, fragrant flowers, a
delicate lawn and scintillating fountains.
Shirpur has an airport with 24 hour landing facility.
The Priyadarshini Spinning Mill manufactures
premium high cotton yarn and a Textile Park with
90% of the production being exported across the
world mainly to Europe. ATM counters of all banks in
the city facilitate the students to draw money round
the clock.
