tong, long ago there lived an old
woman in a village. She had two sons.
Tliey were studying in a city. I{er hus-
band passed away. She was staying in
ihe village altr alone. F{er house was a
'cornpletely furnished one.
One clay skre had scme pain in her
eyes. She neglected her pain. She did
not go to any doctor. She did not use
any medicine. As a result, she became
btrind. The neighbours came to her
house and convinced her to send for a
doctor.
The doctor came into the house and
he prornised to cure her for certain fees.
She agreed to pay the amount.
The doctor visited her house daily
for treatment. He was actually an hon-
est man. He saw ttre costly furniture in
her house. He was attracted very much.
As the old woman was blind and
couid not see, he wanted to steal the
furniture. Greed overcarne his honesty.
He delayed her cure. Every day he stole
one or two costly articles from her house.
Within a few days. he took away rnost of
the articles. At last he cured her. He de-
manded his fees. She refused to pay the
fees saying that her sight was not restored.
She said that she could not see anything.
As the old woman denied paying the
fees, the doctor went to the royal 6ourt.
He complained that she was not paying
the fees of the treatment. When she was
asked in the court, she told that she could
not see the furniture and some other ar-
ticles in her house.
The court understood what had hap-
pened. It found that the doctor was guilty.
The doctor also rcalized and admitted his
guilt. He felt ashamed. FIe told in the court
that he would return her furniture to her.
The royal court declared that the doctor
should forgo his fees for his cheating and
he should return all the articles.
We should neyer try to cheat others.
