Screen 1:
Mr. Parisienne is introducing the lesson of the day which is about Non-Visual exchange in
relays.
Screen 2:
Mr. Parisienne is doing a recapitulation of previous lesson about crouch start. Then he
will ask students to get ready for practical session in the school’s yard where students
practice drills about the different phases of the relays.
Screen 3:
Students are organized in groups of 4 and the teacher is giving command for the start.
Mr. Parisienne uses cones for check marks (line between cones) and a whistle for the
start. He blows the whistle and Thomas comes out of the crouch position to start the
running action.
Screen 4:
Mr.Parisienne is giving instructions whilst students are responding to the directives.
Thomas who is the incoming runner approaches at maximum speed.
Joe who is the outgoing runner is positioned on the balls of the feet, knees bent, leaning
forward.
Screen 5:
Joe (outgoing runner) looks at the check mark and starts when (incoming runner) Thomas
reaches it.
Mr. Parisienne is encouraging the boys.
Screen 6:
Thomas and Joe are getting to the takeover phase. Thomas is pointing the baton forward
before giving the command. Mr.Parisienne is guiding the boys through the steps.
Screen 8:
Thomas and Joe have made a successful takeover phase. Joe is accelerating towards the
third runner and Thomas is encouraging his partner.
Screen 7:
 When Thomas (incoming runner) gives a verbal command “hand” for the outgoing
runner(Joe) to receive the baton as the exchange distance is approached, Joe(outgoing
runner) extends the receiving arm backwards and Thomas (the incoming runner), reaches
forward.
Joe (outgoing runner) grips the baton as soon as contact is felt.
Screen 9:
After several trial and errors, the students finally succeeded the non-visual exchange and
maximizing the speed of the baton. Mr Parisienne is praising them for their good work
and encouraging them to keep on practicing so that they strengthen their skills and
repeat the same action for the finals of the intercolleges.

Non-Visual Exchange in relays

  • 1. Screen 1: Mr. Parisienne is introducing the lesson of the day which is about Non-Visual exchange in relays.
