The title of this message by Pastor Chuck Bernal is "You Are Worth It". In this message Pastor Chuck talks about the four ways to determine the value of something and how these show our intrinsic worth to God. This message was delivered on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at LifePointe Church in Crowley, TX.
7. Oh yes, you shaped me first inside,
then out; you formed me in my
mother’s womb. I thank you,
High God—you’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously
made! I worship in adoration—
what a creation!
8. You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made,
bit by bit, how I was sculpted from
nothing into something. Like an
open book, you watched me grow
from conception to birth;
9. all the stages of my life were spread
out before you, The days of my life
all prepared before I’d even
lived one day.
(Psalm 139:13-16 – The Message)
10.
11. The worth of something
depends on what is
paid for it.
12. God paid a great price for you.
So don’t become slaves of
anyone else.
(1 Corinthians 7:23 – Contemporary English Bible)
13. A high price has been paid for
your freedom, so don’t devalue
God’s investment by becoming
a slave to people.
(1 Corinthians 7:23 – The Voice)
14. For God has bought you with a
great price. So use every part of
your body to give glory back to
God because he owns it.
(1 Corinthians 6:20 – Living Bible)
15. You know that a price was paid to
redeem you from following the
empty ways handed on to you
by your ancestors; it was not
paid with things that perish
(like silver and gold),
16. but with the precious blood of the
Anointed, who was like a perfect
and unblemished sacrificial lamb.
(1 Peter 1:18-19 – The Voice)
17. It cost God plenty to get you out of
that dead-end, empty-headed life
you grew up in. He paid with
Christ’s sacred blood, you know . . .
18. And this was no afterthought.
God always knew he was
going to do this for you.
(1 Peter 1:18-19 – The Message)
21. Have you forgotten that your body
is the temple of the Holy Spirit,
who lives in you, and that you are
not the owner of your own body?
You have been bought, and at
what a price!
22. Therefore bring glory to God
both in your body and your spirit,
for they both belong to him.
(1 Corinthians 6:20 – Phillips Paraphrase)
23. Look at the birds! They don’t worry
about what to eat—they don’t need
to sow or reap or store up food—
24. for your heavenly Father feeds
them. And you are far more
valuable to him than they are.
(Matthew 6:26 – Living Bible)
25. Aren’t two sparrows sold for only
a penny? But your Father knows
when any one of them falls to
the ground. Even the hairs on
your head are counted.
26. So don’t be afraid!
You are worth much more
than many sparrows.
(Matthew 10:29-31 –Contemporary English Version)
27.
28.
29.
30.
31. The worth of something
depends on the
purpose of it.
32.
33.
34.
35. Christ arrives right on time to
make this happen. He didn’t, and
doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He
presented himself for this sacrificial
death when we were far too weak
and rebellious to do anything
to get ourselves ready.
36. And even if we hadn’t been
so weak, we wouldn’t have
known what to do anyway.
37. We can understand someone dying
for a person worth dying for, and we
can understand how someone good
and noble could inspire us to
selfless sacrifice.
38. But God put his love on the line for
us by offering his Son in sacrificial
death while we were of no use
whatever to him.
(Romans 5:6-8 – The Message)
39. There is a direct correlation
between your worth and your
purpose: the more you live
with a sense of your inherent
worth, the more you’ll live with
an awareness of your
God-given purpose.
40. When you see your worth,
you will live like your worthwhile.
When you see your value, you will
live like you are valuable.
41. For we are God’s masterpiece.
He has created us anew in Christ
Jesus, so we can do the good
things he planned for us long ago.
(Ephesians 2:10 – New Living Translation)
