Windows /VCloud Automation / VMware Engineer
Environment: VMware 5.1/4.1, Windows Server2003/2008/2008R2 2012, vCloud

Customer is Insurance and Reinsurance Company. I am responsible for windows/VMware L3
administrative tasks and also involved to integrating Private Cloud in to existing Data Center.
Responsibilities
1. VMware Engineer
 Build and Design VMware5 environment on HP Blade Server with configuration of HA, DRS, vMotion
and Storage.
 Build, configure and deploy VMs and templates. Completed Physical-to-Virtual (P2V), Virtual-to-
Virtual (V2V) and Virtual-to-Physical (V2P) migration of Windows NT, 2000, 2003, 2008 as well as
Linux servers from VMware and legacy hardware.
 Configured VMware Heartbeat between two VC in different cluster.
 Worked on Tuning-up vSphere Performance and Optimized Virtual Machine.
 Using the vSphere Management Assistant vMA and Configured Syslog Server.
 Troubleshoot on host purple diagnostic screen.
 Created & Troubleshot Virtual Networks Standard VSwitch and DV Switch.
 Create and maintain scripts using VMware vSphere PowerCLI and vSphere CLI, to manage the
infrastructure efficiently.
 Data Center Migration by storage v motion with zero downtime.
 Implemented and monitored VM environment by Solarwind Manager.
2. vCloud Automation
 I am leading VMware cloud automation team and responsible for cloud automation administration and
enhancement.
 Talking to multiple GTS Team to understand their process for making it automated to minimize
manual intervention and risks.
 Customize existing cloud API with PowerShell Script to build server with CUSTOMER Standard (Like
Windows Update, Domain, Antivirus etc).
 Creating and Managed VCO workflow for Day to day task.
 Creating and Managing blue prints for environment provisioning by vCAC.
 Creating and managed Resource pool for the different Business segment as per requirement.
 Creating PowerShell scripts to do Environment provisioning like Citrix/IIS/Database and Apache
servers and vCAC server.
 Deployed and managed vCloud Automation Center for self-service provisioning and lifecycle
management.
 Deployed and configured vCloud director to coordinate with VMware Orchestrator to deploy any
specific VDC’s.
 Design and implemented vCenter Operations Manager (VCOPS) for performance and capacity
management of the private cloud.
 Created VCOPS custom dashboard specific to VCAC business groups allowing Tenant
administrators to view resource utilization of their organization.
3. Windows Engineer
 Worked on Windows 2008r2/2012 Active Directory in Mixed mode environment.
 Migrate OU,Groups and Member from the legacy environment to 2008r2 environment.
 Meta Data clean-up of Active Directory for the Decommission Servers.
 Create intrasite for the Domain Replication Among the same domain and forest.
 Providing L3 support to Windows Server issues in Datacenter Supporting Wintel Servers Including
VM host.
 Designed and Implemented Windows servers (such as server Hardware, RAID, OS and Hardening)
in Data Centre.

2.  Implemented and managed on HP SIM for HP physical Server.
 Configured and Maintained Windows clustering on windows 2003/2008.
 Assist with disaster recovery and/or disaster recovery exercises as necessary.
 Handling Escalated issue from L2 Team and work or assist accordingly.
 Handling Layer 3 support for Windows and ESXI Servers.
 Provide RCA for the escalated issues and VMware/Windows P1 business impacted Issue.
4. ICP Build Starting April 2013
I have been given more responsibility along with above task. Here I need to automated l1 and l2
repeated Task. This will remove manual intervention and risk. For automation we are using ICP.
ICP is .net web Application which is ingrate with PowerShell, VMware API and data base is on SQL.
This is in house development for CUSTOMER. This is TCS proprietary automation tool developed
minimize manual intervention. I am heading team which gathers the information from various groups
about their pain area and automate. Led a team to gather information from other groups of the Data
Center to understand their pain area and automated using PowerShell script and coded in .net.
