2. Ph.D. (February 1995- March 1999)
He completed his PhD at Sakarya University in the Industrial Engineering Department,
Turkey, in the field of Artificial Intelligence. The thesis entitled “ Fuzzy Modelling and
Control of a Ceramic Production Subsystem”. It was completed under the supervision of
Prof. Dr. Harun Taşkın. A broad research of fuzzy system identification, modelling and
control of production systems have been carried out during this study. The research
particularly concentrated on the complex ill-defined processes that contain known and
unknown phenomena, which cannot be modelled by analytical methods. In fuzzy modelling
approach, the essential features of the production system were qualitatively described by the
use of fuzzy variables in place of, or in addition to numerical variables. At the control level,
fuzzy inference mechanism was used and important outcomes were obtained. As a result, it
is worth to mention that a new reasoning mechanism, a non-heuristic fuzzy clustering
method, a new fuzzy control strategy for powder production, and a systematic fuzzy
modelling methodology were developed.
M.Sc. ( February 1991- March 1994)
He took his M.Sc. with an excellent degree from the Management Engineering
Department of Science and Technology Institute of Istanbul Technical University, Turkey, in
the field of Production Planning and Management. He graduated with a honour degree. His
thesis was entitled “Application of Just in Time Philosophy to the Administrative
Operations”. He completed his thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Semra Durmuşoğlu.
B. Sc. (1987-1991)
He got his BSc degree in Mining Engineering and completed the deficiency courses from
Management Engineering in Istanbul Technical University. He was among the students of
honour degree and graduated with a degree of highest third position in his department. The
duration of the degree programme was four-year. The final year project was “Performance
Improvement of Machines via Work Redesign”
